[VIC] nbn ISP Feedback/Reviews for Bayswater

Hi All,

I am currently living in Bayswater and have just moved from Brunswick.
At Brunswick I was using Mate communicate paying $65/month for a 50/20 no contract plan.
The speeds were great here and i was getting at least 30mbps download speeds and around 6-7mbs upload speeds on the speedtest.

After moving to Bayswater, i stayed on the same plan but speeds are drastically different with max download speeds around 6-7mbps and uploads around 1-2mbps per second on the 50/20 plan.

I was just wondering if any one in the City of Knox has good download speeds and could advise who their provider is.

Thanks in advance!

If those are Ethernet speeds there is a fault. Are you in the HFC, FTTP or FTTN part of Bayswater? Have you told Mate?

    • Hi Twix, those are not ethernet speeds but the wireless speeds. Speeds were tested using wireless at the previous dress also.

I am in the HFC part of Bayswater.
I just searched up my last address and discovered it is a FTTP. Thanks for asking these questions, had no idea each premises had different types of connections.

Yes, previously spoke to Mate and they said that because everyone's working at home during covid, it has caused the net to be slower.

That work from home excuse from Mate is a cop out. The nbn is a mixed bag of different technologies and speeds but HFC isn't that slow. HFC is capable of at least 250Mbps if not 1000Mbps. Can you run a speedtest with Ethernet?

  • I'm in Ferntree Gully, on 100/40 HFC nbn with Optus, and I get 109/37 all day every day.

    • Scoresby area on Optus 5G. Claimed min 50mbps. Getting around 800mbps down 50-65up. $75/m
