      So yeah..

  • Camera appears back In Stock now - so I guess deals back on?

    Mine still hasn't shipped though.

  • I haven't used a stand alone webcam in decades. However the son was sort of hinting he was hoping to use his main desktop for school rather than bring out the trusty laptop since he was already at this desk and everything is full size. I dug out an ancient webcam that's only 480p, and surprisingly, got it to work with all the major conferencing software. Strangely, I couldn't get it to work with the windows 10 camera app. Whatever, it works with the stuff that it will be used for.

Anyway, on the off chance that I couldn't get this ancient webcam to work, I had also looked up generic ones. It looks like a generic 1080p can be had for under AU$14. I dunno how well they stack up, but considering my manual focus 480p looks just like what all the rest of his class looks like in those tiny squares, I doubt it would be much better. Potentially, the sound might be a consideration, but my son, as well as a good deal of the class actually plug in headsets and earphones so the camera mic just gets bypassed anyway.

Might be something to consider if your use case fits.

Wow I swear I saw that as another company! Not sure what happened with my brain today..

  • Thanks OP. Got one!

Was looking for a webcam for my son. This one should work well for Teams and some gaming.

    Cheers.

  • bought one. Thanks OP!

  • Recently received mine in the post. Anyone else having troubles with theirs? Plugged it into a couple of computers and nothing shows up? I figured there'd at least be indicator showing it had power. I guess mine could be faulty? I assume plug and play means just that, no software necessary?

      Found this test useful

Open the Camera in Windows 10
To open up your webcam or camera, select the Start Windows logo Start button button, and then select Camera in the list of apps.
If you want to use the camera within other apps, select the Start Windows logo Start button button, select Settings Gear-shaped Settings icon > Privacy > Camera, and then turn on Let apps use my camera.
From there, turn on each of the listed apps where you want to use the camera.

Hey there, the webcam should be automatically detected when plugged into the PC. Alternatively, you can go to Windows Settings > System > Sound. Under Input and Output, manually set Creative Live Cam V2 as default. If you are a Mac user, go to System Preferences > Sound. Under Input tab, select Live! Cam Sync 1080p V2 Audio and ensure Mute is not ticked.

Also, if you are using in on an app like teams, do make sure that the app camera settings are not defaulted to any other cameras.

If you are still facing issues with the product you may reach out to the customer support team at https://au.creative.com/contactus/, and they will assist you with troubleshooting or doing a product replacement.

      • Bit odd but it seems like my camera's a bit temperamental. Sometimes it is recognised, other times it's not. If I unplug then reconnect a few times then that usually sorts it out but that is far from ideal… I'm using a Mac btw…

Did you update the firmware to correct that known bug? Its been out a while now.

    • had the same issue, it was windows privacy settings causing the issues.

So I got this weeks ago and finally arrived today and for everyone who is thinking of replacing their 'crappy' laptop webcam with a better one - just give this a pass. The video quality is really not much better than a built in laptop one.

Did not test the mic as I have a snowball ice for that.

    • You either have a well lit room, or an amazing laptop cam.

When i use any other webcam in the dark, it drops framerate and gets choppy as hell.

This bad boy has been flawless.
My only complaint is image noise, but a quick -0.8 sharpness in OBS fixes a good 50% of that.

      • +1

Yeah I only use it for work and that's during daytime and the room is well lit. Did not test it in the dark at all.

The dynamic range is so limited that the window next to me is completely blown out and is this distracting blown out white glow next to my head. To be fair it's the same on the laptop webcam.

It's alright for a webcam, since for meetings it gets down to 720p and a tiny box anyway but in my personal opinion it's not worth the upgrade from a laptop webcam, perhaps better for a desktop.

  • Ordered on Tuesday night and arrived by Thursday arvo…geez that's quicker than some of my recent Amazon deliveries.

No idea how horrid sound quality is going to be but the image is nice.

  • I actually thought the sound quality was decent enough.

  • Got one. Thanks OP!

  • Is getting the $75 Creative Live! Cam Sync 1080p + Creative Chat Bundle worth it. Currently use the cheap apple ear phones from my old iphone 5 atm.

Received it a week or 2 ago, just wouldn't recommend it. During video calls I slowly get whiter and whiter till I become snow. I have to reset by flashing a my phones flashlight right into it to reset it, which isn't professional when calling clients… Strong pass.

    • +1

You might have a faulty unit there, I would be asking for replacement. I have no issues as such with mine. Thanks

    • +1

Mine is the same! It gets whiter and at one point you can’t even tell the difference between me and the wall

  • Mine is getting delivered today after ordering nearly 3 weeks ago. But that’s mainly due to Auspost being slow.

Will let you know how the quality is. I bought it hoping the mic would be better than a $20 one from Amazon.

    • +1

Replying to my own comment, Setup the camera yesterday and I can say its definitely an improvement over the amazon $20 one. Both audio and video is much better and people can hear me a lot better now.

I understand it may not be much of an improvement with inbuilt webcams in laptops etc. But don't waste your money on some random amazon ones. Thanks
