Taken from the IGA website:
There has been a lot of publicity lately about fuel discounts. There is no doubt that every Australian family is interested in saving money. At IGA, we thought we would make it easier for you. Our invitation is simple:
- Go fill up your family car at any service station (up to 80 litres)
- Come and shop with us (IGA) at a participating IGA store any day and spend $30.00
- Bring in your fuel receipt
- We will reimburse you 4c a litre on your petrol receipt
Basically you can get 4 cents per litre reimbursed, when you spend $30 or more in IGA. The deal is that you can buy fuel from any petrol station. Which gives us the following scenario:
- Spend $30 at Coles — get 4 cents Shell voucher.
- Pay (1) with Source Card — get another 4 cents Shell voucher.
- Pump the car at Shell with (1) + (2)
- Spend $30 at IGA and get 4 cent/litre from (3) reimbursed.
Total discount - 12 cents/litre! I can't find anywhere on the page saying that you can't use other discount voucher on fuel purchases. The reimbursement is capped at 80 litres ($2.40).
The only problem is — by the $30 grocery at IGA is probably more than $2.40 more expensive than Coles, Woolies, Franklins and Aldi.
"shop with us"
umm. Selling out are we?
