"The Godfather Collection (the Coppola Restoration Edition) [Blu-ray]." This multigenerational crime saga is a touchstone of cinema. The Blu-ray edition includes all three "Godfather" movies and extensive special features in crystal-clear high definition.

"The Godfather": Francis Ford Coppola's epic masterpiece features Marlon Brando in his Oscar(R)-winning role as the patriarch of the Corleone family. Director Coppola paints a chilling portrait of the Sicilian clan's rise and near fall from power in America, masterfully balancing the story between the Corleone's family life and the ugly crime business in which they are engaged. Based on Mario Puzo's best-selling novel and featuring career-making performances by Al Pacino, James Caan and Robert Duvall, this searing and brilliant film garnered ten Academy Award(R) nominations, and won three including Best Picture of 1972. "The Godfather Part II": This brilliant companion piece to the original "The Godfather" continues the saga of two generations of successive power within the Corleone family. Coppola tells two stories in Part II: the roots and rise of a young Don Vito, played with uncanny ability by Robert De Niro, and the ascension of Michael (Al Pacino) as the new Don. Reassembling many of the talents who helped make "The Godfather", Coppola has produced a movie of staggering magnitude and vision, and undeniably the best sequel ever made. Robert De Niro won an Oscar(R); the film received six Academy Awards(R), including Best Picture of 1974. "The Godfather Part III": In this third film in the epic Corleone trilogy, Al Pacino reprises the role of powerful family leader Michael Corleone. Now in his 60s, Michael is dominated by two passions: freeing his family from crime and finding a suitable successor. That successor could be fiery Vincent (Andy Garcia)… but he may also be the spark that turns Michael's hope of business legitimacy into an inferno of mob violence. Francis Ford Coppola directs Pacino, Garcia, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Eli Wallach, Sofia Coppola, Joe Montegna and others in this exciting, long-awaited film that masterfully explores the themes of power, tradition, revenge and love.

      • Well im yet to get a bad one using that site :/

  • This is the site can be used to check for region free blu-ray movies: http://bluray.liesinc.net/

"The Coppola Restoration Edition" is the best Godfather version out there, so no dramas with quality of restoration… apparently Coppola himself sat down and supervised it.

Only thing I'd be hessitant on is buying from US. I know there are sites that will claim this version will work fine in our players, but my golden rule is to buy Bluray only from UK. Hasn't done me wrong once.
Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.

    • Like I said, I can confirm this edition will work perfectly fine on an Australian Blu-ray player. :) I purchased this back when it was first released (2008 I believe?). :)

I hate how we get reamed so badly for DVD and Bluray in this country. Like the Bourne trilogy box set - $99 at JB, and you could get it for ~$32 delivered from amazon UK. It's such a joke.

Will probably snag this one. Can anyone comment on the quality of the transfer?

Have no fear… quality is almost flawless. "Almost" because Part3 is part of the pack ;).

      Cut and paste:

9 The Movie- Two of the greatest films of all time and one that's not too terrible.
9 The Video- The films haven't looked this good since they were released.
8 The Audio- Those gunshots still ring out like the assassin is in the room with you.
10 The Extras- New features combined with old features and a treasure trove of deleted scenes make for an offering no fan could refuse.

      9 (out of 10)
      OVERALL- Amazing

How is this worth $139.99 @ JB? Dont get me wrong, I am not knocking it but how can JB charge that?

DSE have it far cheaper then JB - http://dicksmith.com.au/product/MV74147/godfather-restored-t…

    Am I missing something?

    • +1

It seems JB's prices have gone up quite a bit for Blu-Ray trilogies/collections…

I wonder if they just increase the price whilst their stock is incredibly low so they don't run out.

$140 for the Mission Impossible Set…$100 for the Predator Trilogy…

  • Shame Part III was such a dud.
Oh well, 25 bucks for two of the best films of all time ain't bad …

  • In comparison to the first two films Part III is pretty crappy, but overall though- it's really not that bad of a film…a lot better than most crap that is currently playing at the cinema…mind you I am waiting for the day where they decide to remake The Godfather, after all original ideas are hard to come by these days :-S

  • Thank you for posting. One of my beloved movies is on the way (in 2-4 weeks)! :)

  • Bugger…back up to $39.99 now :(

  • We all need to remember that JB HiFi is no longer cheap. JB HiFi offers the convenience of impulse buying. However, the extra price JB Hi Fi charges cannot be reasonably defended. Please compare the JB prices against Amazon and others.
