National Geographic- US$22 for 12 Month International Subscription
Order on 23rd Dec
email confirmed Shipment Confirmation - Order# on 25th Dec
till now I have not received my first magazine
anyone in the same boat???
was just about to post this as well. how can it take so long to arrive when it was shipped nearly 2 months ago?? it will be an outdated issue each time if it always takes this long between issues…
hmmm… I never got an email to confirm shipping…
We haven't received our first magazine either and our shipping confirmation email is from the 25th of December as well.
Ditto, but the receipt for the subscription did say it would take between 8-12 weeks for international orders.
Same here, any way to cancel?
Same here. I contacted them last Friday, haven't got any response yet. The shipment confirmation said 4-6 weeks for the first issue to arrive, so 3 weeks overdue.
yes it should definately have arrived by now, doesnt take this long for something to get here from the US. always takes 10 days maximum to me in sydney for a package.
anyone got theirs yet or hear any updates
still nothing here
So I am not alone.
Still waiting for the first issue.
They should send out the second and even the third issue by now, but no updates at all.
International shopping is not a good experience this time.
And we trusted national geographic this brand to buy the deal!
I sent them an email 2 weeks ago enquiring about delivery and they have not replied.I hope this is not a scam!
yes its all very odd, hope its not a scam.
Wow, I completely forgot about this.
im in the same boat. However, i sent them an email on the 20th of Feb and got a reply within 24 hours and is as below
Thank you for contacting the National Geographic Catalog/Online store.
Please be advised that it does take up to 8-12 weeks for delivery of the first issue internationally. As your order is still within this timeline, we do ask that you allow a bit more time for your subscription to begin.
Our National Geographic magazine customers can also complete some customer service transactions online. You can check an expiration date, change an address, report missing or damaged issues, confirm your last payment date, renew your account or give a gift by visiting www.ngmservice.com.
Thank you for supporting National Geographic.

yeah, that happens. Only start to panic if it is outside that 8-12 weeks. If all goes smoothly, they usually send it [to me atleast] and arrive at the 1st friday of the month, maybe a week a bit into the month, but seriously, they are great reading and knowledge tools that you can chow down in a week of slow reading.
I ordered [unrelated to this deal] in early March. First Issue was May.
I just cant believe it can take that long to ship a magazine to AU. the issues are going to be way outdated by the time they arrive.
Then when will the second one be sent out ?
I just sent an enquiry in their Website. I might get the same response though.
Yes. Got the same reply within 24 hours

They're probably waiting to collect all the magazines that didn't sell in Newsagents in the USA, and they send these copies internationally…
It really does take that long. I requested a catalog from Eastbay and it took 3 months. It had the date sent on the label.
Still nothing here :(
yep still nothing for me.
yep still nothin
nuttin too
Nothing here either….
Nothing here yet either, also received the same email as others.
same, nothing here. This makes sund00bie sad
Shipment Summary on 25/12/2011 and nothing arrived yet… They shouldn't have called it a Shipment Summary, it was more of an Order Confirmation/Summary.
another day and still no magazine
it took me about three months to get my first issue.
But considering how much cheaper the subscription is compared to buying from the newsagent (around $10 per issue) I caan deal with that.
A warning if you hange your address it's a similar situation you need to give heaps of notice.
Got mine the other day (Monday or Tuesday)
good to hear, hopefully mine arrives tomorrow.
nothing in the mail today either
Still waiting on mine too, got the same response from National Geographic.
Nothing either :<
Oh yeah, it's been so long since I ordered the subscription - around Christmas. I almost forgot about it, and my 11 year old just reminded me. Got on Ozbargain and found this thread.
I'm in the same boat as everybody on here. Still nothing yet.
Were you guys charged the whole amount initially for it or do they charge per issue sent?
the whole amount
I've only got this to say
I haven't received mine yet but it was the same last year. It is about 3 months before you receive the first issue which is current (ie I am expecting to receive the April edition when I finally start receiving them), after that each issue arrives like clockwork each month.
well it is just about 3 months so if it should arrive this week
doubt it
they have what i believe as cycles?
they post around the first or (rarely) second week.
I get mine every first Friday.
Well, the 8-12 weeks have passed. Anybody complained after 12 weeks to them?
Patience everybody, lets start complaining if it's not here by mid April. :)
I haven't received mine either. I went back to the visa card statement and there nothing on there for the 23rd December onwards. However on the 24th December I received this email.
Thank you for your recent order.
This is to confirm the item(s) listed below have been shipped.
Have other received this email but no payment has been processed?
yeah I've just found that I didn't get charged too … that's really strange
Still waiting and not happy about it, been over 12 weeks now. dont think I will buy international sub again.
Lol still waiting too, I thought I was the only one…glad to see you guys are with me :P
Same here, ordered 23/12. Received an order confirmation & separate shipping confirmation at the time.
Received nothing yet, so e-mailed them last week & got this response:

Sounds like they couldn't organize a #$%^ in a Brewery..
Today I got:
<<We would like to thank you for your efforts in following up on the order you made.

Think I might give up on that one - hopeless. Was meant to be a Christmas present!!
I feel for you guys, but can't help but be amused at the people worrying about it being out of date if it is last months issue. It's NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC FFS. Not a news weekly rag.
This is the latest email from them:
We wish to advise that we have activated your membership. Your membership would now commence with the April 2012 issue through to March 2013.
In the meantime, an invoice has been sent to you. Kindly return it with payment details. Alternatively, you could contact us on the Customer Service number at 1800 620 831 and we will be able to take your payment over the telephone.

Thanks for the reminder, time to chase
wow so they have not even sent an issue. I think I will cancel the whole thing if they are that incompetent.
did know you your local library will probably have copies of all the latest national geographic magazines which you can borrow for free?
I just hope the invoice they send me is still for US$22 and they don't try to pull a bait and switch. I have just emerged victorious from a 2 month long battle with Amazon UK for something similar (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/62432)
Anyone got their mag yet? I ordered mine 23/12/11 and they haven't started yet.
Shipped on 26/12/2011, have yet to receive anything yet…
me either. I starting to think none of the issues were sent..
I would email them if you haven't received it yet. It looks like they didn't process any of the orders.
I've complained twice already via email. Both within and outside the 8-12 weeks. They're in email contact with me and are following up. I've sent them this URL.
Received the following response to my email. My credit card was not charged. Have sent them a copy of the original receipt.

I received the same email from them as this after sending them a third email.
I received the same email, apparently from the same person.
They are hopelessly incompetent. Think I will cancel the whole thing.
They answered my email within half an hour :) -
Thank you for verifying your information. We sincerely apologize for the delay in processing your NG Magazine subscription. We encountered a problem with our order system and found that your order was not processed. Your email is being forwarded to the NG Magazine division that handles subscriptions shipping to Australia for immediate assistance to process your subscription.
Please do not hesitate to reply with any additional concerns or questions in the mean time.
Thank you for your continued patience and support for National Geographic.
Sincerely,
wow very poor if they took so many orders and not processed a single one, and could not even send an email to let customers know whats going on.
Yeah, I've sent them an email just then, so waiting on their standard response.
Maybe they're hoping people would 'forget' about the $22 and only send the magazine out to those who email in? Lol
so were you charged initially? I had a quick look and couldn't find the transaction. I'm starting to think they never processed it? But i do have a confirmation email
Hmmm.. Just got some more nat geo spam. Thought I'd check if anyone has got their copies yet. Also checked my cc history, and can't find the $22 transaction. email sent!
I just received my first issue!! Anyone who has not received theirs yet should email [email protected]
wow so only took around a week to get to you. will definately email them later, need to find the invoice first.
It was posted from Hong Kong, I still have not received an invoice and I havent paid anything yet. Heres hoping they forget to do that too!
Even though they had my cc, they never charged me, after enquiring I received this email today.
Thank you for your email and the information provided.
We wish to advise that we have registered your order as requested under our regular billing plan. An invoice has been dispatched to you. Kindly return it with payment details. Alternatively, you could contact us on the Customer Service number at 1800 620 831 and we will be able to take your payment over the telephone. You could also pay online through our website http://www.ngmservice.com.
As a courtesy, we would like to send you a complimentary explorer world map with this subscription. It would be sent to you once the payment is credited.
I logged into the above link with my membership # (that was supplied in the same email) and can now pay for it in AUD @ $20.70
Now see how long it will take to arrive! :)
what is the adress to email and what do you give them, just the order number?
I just replied to the original email confirmation of my order.
The original email address was [email protected], but as Marcus posted [email protected] is probably you best bet.
thanks I emailed the [email protected] hope to hear from them soon
I ended up being directed to their Asian Office which I believe is in Hong Kong-Within a week I had an apology and the magazines started arriving the next. Also got 2xfree issues as well. It appears their USA office has not been communicating with their Asian office!
still waiting on a reply from natgeoaust
Got a reply. They have fixed the subscription and will provide a free world explorer map as a courtesy. $20.70AUD for 12 mth subscribtion. First magazine will be the June edition.
Hi, I got the same reply though no mention of the first issue being the June one? Is that your deduction based off the 8-12 week shipping period, or did they actually specify that? I was hoping that I'd receive an issue within a week or so like an OzBargainer reported above …
We can confirm that your Membership has been processed to commence with the June 2012 issue. The expiry date for this membership is May 2013. We have also arranged the dispatch of a World Map to your address as a courtesy.
You will receive an invoice shortly at your address for the amount of 22 USD (or local currency equivalent). May we kindly request that you return this invoice to our address together with your payment (as outlined on the invoice). Alternatively, you can make your payment immediately via www.ngmservice.com - choose the option ‘Members outside the U.S. and Canada please click here’, select your country from the drop down list and input your Membership Number as stated above. Then click on the link ‘Pay Your Bill’.
Cheers. The reply that I was sent didn't specify so:
"We wish to advise that we have processed your order as requested. The subscription price of $22.00USD will be honored for your NG Magazine.
It would be sent to you once the payment is processed."
I also got a reply from NatGeo saying that I'll be getting a explorer map free, don't know what that looks like, but sounds cool lol
The World Map thing, is quite standard with any purchase of subscription. Unless there must be something really special about it.
That's kind of lame then, they made it sound like they were including it in for the inconvenience.
Alright folks , I had a detailed discussion with the NGC team about this,
Turns out they hadn't charged my credit card in the first place. so the Aus NGC people hadn't actually received my credit card / payment details. The lady sent me a complimentary copy for one month anyway.
Holy Shxxx, nothing arrive till now.
I cancelled my old credit card.
I just sent them an email to inquiry my subscription.
See what I would get?
I just sent an email to [email protected], after finding the email order :).
Replied to my email today, apologising and stating mag will be sent starting with the June issue when I pay my USD$22. No issues, as I didn't have any transactions debited to my account yet. Still happy, albeit a little bit of a fail on NatGeo's behalf.
Only cost A$20.70 for 12 months when I paid the invoice. Sending a free map as well, not sure that was in the original deal :)
They asked me to pay it again.
And I can not find my bank statement of the previous payment. It has been such a long time.
If I need to pay it again, I am think I will just cancel the whole thing.
they never actually charged you Carrie.
For $22, I don't expect 5-star service, but I do expect SOME form of competency when delivering a service.
NatGeo really needs to get their act together…
Looks like my credit card was not charged. (Which card? did i use paypal? too long ago.)
But they sent a friggin' shipping confirmation back in December. What is wrong with them?
Have emailed them.
So they know about this stuff-up, but are waiting for people to contact them?
yep sounds like it. really piss poor customer service IMO but it is still cheap and a magazine I am interested in so I contacted them. paid the bill and waiting on the issue now.
My first issue finally showed up today!
Was it worth all the hassle? How's the Atlas map they gave out?
There was no map included, just the magazine in a yellow paper envelope. Seemed kind of strange.
They probably come "surface" ie. by ships, which from experience can take up to three months.
