[QLD] 20V LED Work Light, Heat Gun, Air Compressor $8 Each (ALDI Xfinity Battery Compatible) @ Autobarn

230

Great bargains if you have an Autobarn store nearby. These tools seem to have been restocked in stores in Brisbane, possibly elsewhere. I bought some more worklights which were previously out of stock. 20% off store wide (Friday & Saturday) brings the price down to $8. They are compatible with ALDI Xfinity batteries.

  • Milwaukee battery?

  • Bring on Bunnings price matching

    • nah, they don't even bother matching ALDI on a lot of items

      • -4

Aldi never sells anything that bunnings sells, why would they match it?

        • +3

They often discount the Ozito equivalents to the same price when Aldi have powertools.

  • ANY details on the air compressor? It looks like it has two hoses - presumably one for tyre inflation (low volume high psi), and one for inflatable toys (low pressure, high volume). However, some details and additional photos would be helpful.

  • Website is cooked, wont take Paypal

    • credit card worked fine for me

      • Huh?

    • Yeah me too, ended up paying with MC credit card direct on the site.

Spoke to them earlier…. PayPal and the site weren't talking properly and transactions were failing…

Thing is… Apparently heaps worked… Others failed..

  • why does this light need to be so huge? not like the red part reflects anything

it's a heat sink. i've also got a 240V 4000LM ALDI work light with a smaller heat sink and it gets quite warm

Correct. LED lights can have a problem with "thermal runaway". As they heat up the resistance of a LED drops hence current flow through the LED increases and they get hotter and so it goes on until the heat caused by the steadily increasing current flow causes the LED to burn out. To control the issue LED lights need a large heat sink and/or a current limiting power supply. If you just hook the LEDs up to a battery they will normally burn out, however I made an underwater light for going after prawns using 5 LEDs in parallel each with a series resistor. Resistor value calculated using Kirchoff's law was 820 ohms based on 12mA per led and 3.4V forward voltage across each LED, I used 1 watt resistors. As the light was used for prawning I only turned it on when it was in the water, so being in the water kept the LEDs cool and prevented thermal runaway and so I didn't need to worry about a heat sink or current limiting resistor as I am an ozbargain cheapskate. Prawns are yummy and easy to catch for free.

        • What a legend. This sounds way to complicated to me but good work

        • I remember my dad and uncles used to go prawning every other weekend when I was growing up. Don't know anyone that does it now!

    • I wonder if the small LED means very concentrated bright light rather than using more surface area of light, not so 'piercing' to the eyes.

      • you would also need a very big lense or individual lenses if the leds were dispersed. it's a work light, so the beam spreads

  • Can confirm they work 100% with Aldi batteries. Also the light is great, nice and bright. The stand on the other hand is a bit annoying as the screws used on either side to fix it in place still don't work
