    will you have staking?

    • Hey Dan, we don't at the moment but we are working on bringing it on. The biggest factor we have over others at the moment is our fees & spread are by far the lowest out of all the Crypto markets in Australia and by not small amount. If you compare a $1,000 transaction in coinspot for example compared to Digital Surge our fees & spread end up over 200% cheaper. If that's not a reason to change I'm not sure what is. =D

      • +3

Sorry, don't want to sound lazy just don't have the time top run the numbers right now, but do you know how you compare to i.e. Independent Reserve?

        • +1

I can guarantee you we are cheaper, you need to calculate in the cost of not only fees, IE purchase & sale fees of coins but also deposits and withdraws and the spread on the exchange. Overall on average we are significantly cheaper than Swfytx, Coinspot, Independent reserve and just about anyone else. I would invite you just put a small amount in digital surge and in another platform and buy & sale the same coin at the same time and see which platform you end up with more (hint it's us) =P

      • +9

        Coinspot is 1%, so for $1000 that's $10 … does that mean your fees would be -$10? (200% of 10 = 20, 10 - 20 = -10) … or i could just be really bad at math…

        • +14

          can confirm, bad at math

        • The math is correct. 😎

        • Apologies Daley the % figure was based on x10 $1,000 trades we wanted to average out what the average person spends on an exchange and with spending about $10K in a 12 month period adding up all the various fees platforms have including spread difference we are about 240% cheaper in fees compared to CoinSpot and we are cheaper than every single other Crypto marketplace.

I'd invite you to just put a $10 purchase through or something on two exchanges buy & sale the same coin at the same exact time and you will see it in real time. So many platforms have so many hidden fees in their spread it's insane. We on the other hand go above and beyond to try make sure all our fees and transparent and clear to our customers through the purchasing process.

      • +11

Not sure I really want to trust my money to the guys who don't understand basic numbers. That's a pretty good reason not to change.

Coinspot costs 100% more than you, their fee is 200% of your fee and you are 50% less than Coinspot.

        • +2

Hey =) please keep in mind there are more fees than just transaction fees, that is what other platforms want you to believe but you need to bare in mind spread difference this is where other Cryptocurrency marketplaces actually make most of their money. We on the other hand keep our spread extremely small amnd when you combine these two key areas of fees for a Crypto exchange that is where you will see these types of savings on overall fees.

          • +12

@DigitalSurge: You do realise those three things I said (100% more, 200% of your fee, 50% less) are exactly the same thing? I wasn't criticising your pricing structure, just your math.

Although if you really want to go 200% less and pay me to use your platform, I'm all for it.

          • +4

@DigitalSurge: Binance Australia fees starting fees are 0.1% (0.075% if paid with BNB).
            Your lowest fee is 0.5%

Binance also has payid, osko etc.
Binance also has minimal spread, especially after making a trade from AUD. You then sell your crypto to USDT and then you have access to the no-spread USDT market.

FTX was originally also an option (0.07% taker, 0.02% maker) however they've since removed AUD pairs.

            • @anicca: What's the big attraction to AUD trading pairs?

              • @bonezAU: No expert but I think it just means you won't have to buy/transfer to another coin/currency prior to purchasing and selling.

                • +1

@DerpFactory: If you're trading AUD pairs, at the end of the day you're allowing the exchange/platform to exchange the forex for you (sometimes at inflated rates) because crypto is USD based. If you can find a good exchange rate, IMO you're way better off exchanging your AUD into USD and doing all your trading in USD.

        • +1

This is twice as good as Coinspot but that's not saying much. I quickly stopped using Coinspot the moment I discovered Binance. Fees on Binance are 13x cheaper than coinspot (ie. 92.5% less) with virtually zero spread compared to Coinspot's ridiculous spread which can sometimes be be 5-10%+. So in total it's more like 3-11% cheaper per trade which is ridiculously amazing.

Unfortunately, due to all the flexible/high locked staking interest rates and the fact that the fees are virtually non-existent (0.075%), there's simply no point to go with any other platform other than Binance if you intend to trade.

Customer funds are held in hot wallet and cold wallet storage for the best blend of functionality and security.

What exactly does this mean? If funds are held in a hot wallet then won't that defeat the purpose of cold storage?

Also, do you plan to have 2FA for logins and not just withdrawals?

    • Hi Earl of Lemongrab,

Yes thats right, we employ a blend of hot and cold storage. The majority of crypto is stored in cold storage for security, and a portion of the crypto is a hot wallet to facilitate sending crypto.

    • +1

You can also enable Google 2FA from your Account Settings. This will enable 2FA on login and withdrawals.

      • Oops, used the random referral link to sign up. Can this be fixed?

        • +1

Chat still credited me the $10. Just ask them for it and it'll be OK

        • It's fine we just have to manually remove the referral program on the backend.

  • +33

    Worth $10 today, $1.5 in 10 months, $367 in 10 years

    • lol

    • haha pretty much!

      • if that's the case I guess we should cash out the $10 now, and buy crypto in 10 months later when its down 80%. gotcha!

        • It's worked in previous cycles, good luck! With the amount of institutions that bought in at $40k, it's hard to imagine it ever going much below this level (it'll simply be bought up because that's the new benchmark where hundreds of billions of dollars were spent buying it). Bitcoin has never gone below previous cycle lows ever. If it turns out that we are resuming the second half of this bull run after all then we'll likely never see Bitcoin go below $40k ever again.

We've printed out an additional 30% AUD over the last 1.5 years alone as have most of the world. This means that everything would have to go up in price by 30% just to stay the same cost as 1.5 years ago. I don't see this trend stopping any time soon, in fact we've picked the extreme money printing again as of June.

  • Will you have an app (iOS or Android) available soon?

    • Free $10 to be used towards buying any coin.

    • +1

you get $10 in your account to do what you want with

      • Yep! =)

        • can you withdraw the $10, without buying any coins ?

          EDIT:
i just saw the 'response' to this, below :-D

  • How are your fees compared to Binance?

    • +5

Heads up Binance are an Exchange. DigitalSurge are a broker. They set the prices for the cryptos. Take that into account when considering fees.

      • +2

        What's the difference?

        • +5

Exchange you're buying and selling to other users for an agreed price. Brokers you're buying and selling to the broker at a price set by the broker. Typically pretty close to the coins value anyway to remain competitive to other brokers, but each have their benefits and risks.

          • @wellzi: Yes exactly right we are a different platform completely to something like Binance. What we can say is if you compare us to any other Crypto marketplace such as Coinspot, Coinbase, Coinjar, Swyftx and so forth, we are cheaper period. Not to mention our design is way nicer and much more user friendly.

              • +13

@wellzi: Calm down Romeo. They are new, and they are excited. Let them have their moments.

                • @No ONE: They're not new… they've been around for a while. I do like their platform, and I hold crypto in their platform.

  • +15

Minimum $20 withdraw, I deposited 10 instantly via Osko and got my $20 withdraw straight away. Cheers

    • +7

      No problem lol

  • Are you guys insured in the event of a hack/loss of funds etc?

  • Hi DigitalSurge!

Is there any credit check for signing up and doing the ID checks for Level 2?

    Thanks

    • Not at all no credit checks at all for level 2. =)

  • Great thanks. If I wanted to withdraw the bonus $10 as bitcoin, would I need to deposit AUD $10 and then withdraw $20 bitcoin?

    • Yes correct, however I would invite you to compare our fees to whatever other platform you are using you will find our fees & spread combined beat all other Crypto platforms. ;)

  • +9

Could you elaborate on “safer than any other platform out there” please?

    • +1

Yeah i'd like to hear this too. Marketing is great and all. But security and safety is something I just don't throw in with the marketing spiel lightly.

      • +2

No response from @DigitalSurge, so I assume it’s just a marketing statement purposely crafted to misleading potential customers into trusting their platform. And that’s a hard no from me. Security isn’t something to lie about.

        • -2

We actually could not reply we got muted by Oz bargain for 2 weeks. Anyway you can read about our security here https://digitalsurge.com.au/security

          • +1

@DigitalSurge: Ok, I went there, read it all and it still hasn’t answered how is this “safer than any other platform out there”. There is nothing extraordinary listed there.

Are you confident enough in the security of your platform to openly participate in a Bug Bounty? If you do so, I would love to get to know the details of how much do you offer for breaching the unbreachable.

Regarding getting muted - you kept replying to comments posted hours after mine, but ok.

      • Can read about our security here https://digitalsurge.com.au/security

  • I signed up new about a week ago and love it so far. PayID available so everything's very fast. Any chance I can still claim OP?

    • +1

Aww sorry you missed out, keep a heads out for some emails next week though we are going to be giving some awesome giveaways so you have the chance to win way more money in those!

  • uhhh asks for passport and/or drivers license for verification.

dont know if that information is worth 10$ considering how exchanges (if thats what this is) disappear suddenly (Mt Gox etc)

    • +7

      It's required by Australian law

    • +2

Yes this is something required by law, if a platform is not asking for these I would not trust them at all because it means they are not regulated by the government therefore you can wake up to a zeroed account very easily.

      • +2

Do we have to upload a copy of ID to verify? Or do you do it via Green ID or Australia Post etc. so just have to provide the license/passport number to verify, like BTC Markets do. That way you comply with the law and we don't risk identity theft if you get hacked etc.

    • They are using a regulated 3rd party ID verifier. I'm no expert so it may be possible that they can/are retrieving and storing the info but your risk is really tiny compared to other exchanges/marketplaces that require you to upload a copy of your ID to their servers. Nevertheless it still might not be worth $10 to you.

  • Hi, I was wondering how you can make the claim that you have the lowest fees? Binance has lower spread, higher liquidity, lower maker and taker fees and no deposit fees on almost all deposit methods. Whats your point of difference when comparing to Binance?

    • Hello =) Thanks for the question, we are comparing ourselfs to other Crypto Marketplaces not exchanges like Binance, platforms like Binance are a completely different product to platforms such as ourselves, coinspot, coinbase and so forth, in this area we are the cheapest. =)

  • +1

Plenty of other posts confirming the same thing here but wanted quickly confirm this offer is indeed legit and the support staff made it very simple to claim the $10 promotion. My instant verification didn't work but it wasn't an issue - manually reviewed and my ID was verified within 10 mins. Pretty happy with the service!

  • what do we buy :D ?

    • You have over 260 coins to choose from take your pick! =D

    • +1

      DOGE

      • lol

  • -4

    verify NOTHING ELSE

    • Is that worth the neg? It is a free $10 and they are following the KYC laws as they are applicable.

      • Maybe he should use one of those Udemy courses to learn grammar.

  • Just went for it. Redeeming the $10 was quick and super easy. Instantly appeared on the account:
    Account Funds: $ 10.00 AUD

  • Signed up, $10 was in there super quick. So far looks good…. :-)

  • +1

Easy, got $10, deposited extra $10 from account. Withdrew $20 cheers :)

Might use this instead of BTCMarkets, lets see.

BTCMarkets can generate a list of taxable events.

    • Your missing out on the value we bring by not using us, I'd invite you to check out the different in fees, spread and features. =)

      • I might, good to have another account at an exchange. BTCmarkets is my primary atm.

          • +2

@DigitalSurge: am mining, so I do ETH > AUD conversions mostly.

            so BTC is 0.85% > https://www.btcmarkets.net/fees

            you guys are 0.5%

will try it out when prices are high. any plans for an app? BTCmarkets has a ticket (third party app) that current exchange rates.

            Edit: upvote added :D

            • +1

@kehuehue: Ah I see, yea we are currently working on the app for both iOS and Android, should have both launch within the next month roughly.

            • +1

@kehuehue: Thanks for the upvote also just noticed you mentioned BTCmarkets can generate a list of taxable events, we also generate extremely detailed and ATO compliant statements, everything you need to make taxes easy with crypto. Have a check on our accounting statements section on the website you will love it! =D

              • +1

@DigitalSurge: Just checked it out, pretty decent indeed.

Also, whoever will be developing the app - ask them to have a dark mode too - same for the website (BTCMarkets has one for their website).

                • @kehuehue: We actually do plan to have a dark mode at some point in the near future. =)

  • Anyone having trouble to generate a PayID email address?

    • Please contact our support on the website they will be able to help you with any problems. =)

    • Hs this been sorted for you? If not please contact our live support.

  • +3

How do we see the spreads? Does this require signing up? Im looking at prices on the website, but what exactly am i looking at, is this the last sale, the mid price between the spread, or the ask price?

This looks like a good deal, and wish Digital Surge all the best.

Got a free $US5 BTC about 8 years ago with another ozbargain deal and at the recent peak it was worth $1000. Best investment ever, infinite return. Hope ozbargainers realise how good this deal is.

    • Please see our comparison chart with spread information here: https://digitalsurge.com.au/fees and that is super amazing to hear, congrats. Please do let me know if you have any other questions.
