@lawyerz: I am one of the first users using Revolut, I did this and my account was suspended, I had to appeal to get my account unblocked.

They pointed out to me this:

Revolut as a financial regulated business has reserved right to not support some of the activities. Revolut is not a facility that would support using service in order to gain extra benefits from other financial products - so in that case, we would not accept delivering service in order to gain benefits coming from the movements made on a credit card. You can find a thread on it in our Terms and Agreements in the section 19.1.B.Also, the further funds' circulation may result with a blocked account in the future. Please, bear that in mind as an information for the future reference.

@financialminimalism: this… this can also be used to meet those credit cards with spend X / first 3 months sort of deals?!

        • +1

I got charged cash advance fees when I topped up with credit - be wary!

        • I used my Coles Rewards Mastercard

          • @iol: Any cash advance fee with Coles?

            • +1

@silenthillrocks: see above iol said yes

I got charged cash advance fees when I topped up with credit - be wary!

        • UPDATE: so, went though, earned points. no cash advance fee or interest. Not (yet) suspended lol.

          • +1

            @lawyerz: UPDATE UPDATE;

it is classified as cash advance by citibank :(

For reference, some purchases made with a credit card are also
considered to be cash advances when the merchant's bank has classified
their merchant as cash advance providers. This is based on the service
they provide. Therefore, will incur cash interest.

Please note that this relates to your transactions with 'Revolut' on 20
            July for $25 and $1,000.

If there is anything else we can do to assist you, please let us know
and we will be happy to help.

            Yours sincerely,
            Citibank Online Customer Service Centre

            • @lawyerz: Hm i made $11 test from citi cc 23 july, no fee charged yet.

              • @CyberMurning: no fees, just interest charge $$ on the very last day before statement date =/

                • @lawyerz: Yeah i dont see any charges relates to that.

                  • @CyberMurning: not sure how that works, if youre with citibank as well it should be consistent.

go wild then, but be cautious! the last thing you want is a big surprise bill for interest charge

                    • @lawyerz: Yes im with citi. Premier card.

Nah, i just done that $11 and then transferred back. Thats all. Just once.

            • @lawyerz: Similar experience on an online purchase I got charged a cash advance fee but when I topped up the card no cash advance fee!!

              • edit - sorry what actually happened was by default online purchases it’s not set up on Revolut so my default Apple Pay card was charged and that’s where I had the cash advance fee! Had it been turned on I might not have been charged a fee?

Becareful your account may get suspended

      • Wait we aren't meant to do this?
        What's so special about this?

        • get reward points from the credit card

          • @kehuehue: But I get rewards anyway when I buy something?

            CC —$50—> amazon.com.au ($50 worth of rewards)
Total for purchase: $50 worth of rewards

CC —> $50 into revolut —> ($50 worth of rewards)
            Revoult —> $50 —> amazon.com.au ($0 worth of rewards)
Total for purchase: $50 worth of rewards

            What am I missing?

            • @idonotknowwhy: no, what OP was saying was they add money into the account using a credit card. the cc awards them rewards because its counted as a purchase by Revo. transfer money back into your own account, repeat for unlimited reward points.

              • +2

@kehuehue: oh wow, I didn't know you could transfer back into a bank account
so cycle this and get unlimited free reward points, until this revolut thing bans you
or if you're in debt with multiple cards, use this to keep cycling the money within the 55 day window to pay no interest

    • I use my Latitude (28 degree) to deposit the $40 last night and this morning, it shows up as "PURCHASE", so I assume no cash advance fee.

      • i am tempted to use my Latitude card to get $100 off $3970 spend lol

      • +3

I speak too early.. they did end up charging me $4 for cash advance fee.

    • no fees on nab qantas credit card

  • +1

Does anyone actually use Revolut on a daily basis? What are the advantages of it?

    • Best feature for me is the disposable debit card

    • +2

Seems to be loaded with features
      - Spend tracking analytics
      - budgeting
      - single use cards
      - virtual cards
      - crypto
      - stock purchases (coming?)
      - savings vault.
… I think you should read the web site :-)

    • Multiple cards drawing from the same balance. Transfer cash to other users without fees.

  • Just ordered 3 amazon gift cards via hcf (4.05) and got the referral credit instantly.

On another note had anyone tried this for Turkish netflix signup?

    • Don't we need to make $10 min per transaction?

      • Yup I bought $60 worth Amazon cards I.e. $20 each.

  • Great deal, but I think I may have lucked out. I don't have a driver's licence or passport, but I do have a valid Victorian Proof of Age card. Anybody else been in a similar position and know whether support would accept that as a valid form of ID? The quick Google search I ran before signing up said you only needed a 'valid photo id', which this is.

    Edit: No dice. ☹️

  • +2

I just done the wife one, took me exactly 20 mins after I have done mine. Those who can do this in 15 mins are gods!!!! LOL

    • Years of ozbargaining

    • +1

Pretty sure I can do 19 mins :P

  • +1

Just to clarify, does this mean I have to top-up $40 to pay for the physical card and make the 3x$10 payments before I receive the $40 referral bonus?

    • +1

Yes, that is the absolute minimum you'd need to add to qualify.

      • cheers

      • +2

well… $39.99 is the absolute minimum to top up for this deal to work. But $40 is close :-)

    • i didnt make the 3x$10 payments and got the rewards $40.

  • +1

Man this app is so annoying with their 2FA and their constant requiring of biometric every time you tab away from the app!!!!

But I just did all my payments and got the bonus instantly.

  • Thanks mate

  • Bought 3 x $10 wish gift cards from Prezzee app with Google Pay, no discount, but it was easy. Got the $40 instantly (I'd already met other criteria). I tried 2 x $5 ones before the last 2 x $10 just to see if it worked, but no luck. I'll be having a bit of fun at the checkout when I do my next rewards offer I guess, but I'm planning on spending $50 there, so I figured I might as well.

Edit:Withdrew the $40 to my NAB account and received instantly (via BSB/account number option).

  • Sound so complete, it ask me to download the app, then what I can’t even see the promotional code for the $40 when I apply? Anyone care to put down a simple guide?

Are people just making many dupe accounts to get referrals?

    • Click the Referral Links under the deal
Then it will lead you to a sign up page which will ask you for a phone number to input. But make sure the referral link you click says "Expiring soon" on it if it doesn't just get another link from the referral link page.

    • +1

Unfortunately like many other referral, it doesn’t say if it’s applied, so just have to trust that the link works. As other said too, make sure u see that expiring soon

  • +2

Bought 3x $10 Woolies GCs and got the $40 credit immediately. Thanks OP!

  • +2

is everyone rushing to sign up just to claim the rewards itself and dump it?

    • It's also great as a travel card, and the disposable cards feature is awesome.

  • It says Disposable virtual cards are only on their $10/mo+ plan. Are people getting this on the $0/mo plan?

    • +1

Yes I am seeing it, and I use the Virtual Cards to purchase the 3 x $10 gift card.

      • nice, thanks for info dpoon73 👍

  • Ok I made the account via referral, it says the physical card Is free? Some say it's $10?

    • The card is free, but you will need to pay a minimum of $10 to deliver it to your house (or more if you want it express delivery) so you will need to spend $10.

  • +1

got $40 Referral reward without making 3x$10 payments.

    • How?

      • here's the how to.

        • generate a disposable virtual card - record the number, expiry date and ccv.
        • buy amazon gift card $1 (or the minimal amount) and 3x$10 in 4 different orders using the above card.
        • as soon as the $1 order is processed by amazon/revolut, the card is disposed by revolut.
        • amazon will try to process the 3x$10 orders, payments will be declined and orders are cancelled.
        • $40 Referral reward will arrive in your account.
        • +2

Or simply use the physical card details for the 3x$10 purchases.

          • @purple1: How do you get the physical cards details? It's blurred out in the app.

            • +1

@TravellingSquid: Tap the circular eye icon (top left corner of the card).

              • @purple1: For some reason that's not showing up for me (android). 👀 Maybe you have to be verified first.

          • @purple1: when i try to order the physical card, upon selecting the address it gives me options to upgrade to metal or platinum, both are paid, doesnt let me go ahead without

          • -1

            @purple1: this is wrong.
cannot do this duh i tried because reading your comment and it got rejected because someone mentioned the physical is not active yet until we got it on mail.

        • +1

Nice, got my $40. It worked using the physical card details after I verified myself!

        • How long did it take for the subsequent 3x$10 orders to be processed and then be recognised by Revolut before getting your $40 bonus? Are you buying the gift cards via amazon.com.au?

          • @kenny12341: I did it via amazon. Only one $10 gift card order shows up in Revolut (and got rejected). The other 2 orders stayed pending on amazon and didnt come through to Revolut. So I placed a $20 order on a random online store, which got rejected too. Then the bonus credited 👍

            • @TravellingSquid: Ahh thanks I'll give it a go. So you pretty much have to see the $10 transaction in Revolut but in a declined state?

            • @TravellingSquid: Why the physical card was rejected?

              • +1

@hanofee: Revolut will block all transactions on the physical card.
The physical card can be unblocked in the App once the card has been delivered.

                • @purple1: I actually tried the physical card of my partner newly created acc in Shopback. Card delivery still next 2 weeks. It went through OK. Got the $10 gift card and deducted $10 on Revolut too. So maybe only declined on certain website?

            • @TravellingSquid: Since the 3x$10 and $20 transactions will all get rejected, did you had to deposit any funds into Revolut in the first place?

        • the $1 amazon gift is taking forever to process

        • how long was it took you to process the 1$ gift card? mine been passed 2 hours with no result…

          • @eatsnake: just happened now. then the subsequent 10$ did not show up on revolut. went back into amazon and tried to update to same card and got a message on revo that "10$ Declined. Please use chip and PIN whenever they are available"

Dont know if thats the message @purple1 got

going to generate a new card and try on amazon again

turning out to be alot of work for 40$ lol

        • That $1 gift card was totally unnecessary spending, all it does is disposes your card after one purchase and you can terminate card yourself.
