    • its not very clear. ref ""- Offer is limited to $30 per Card to which the offer is saved and only spend on this Card counts towards the Offer."" if anyone is game to try it after they get their $30 credit and pay another small bill to see if they get anymore credits back please report back here?

    • like to find out the same.

    • +4

I think its totally clear, you get 20% back "each time". So you can use multiple transactions & still get 20% off "each time", but… it is limited to a total cashback of $30 per card "Offer is limited to $30 per Card".

So, do a $100 transaction, get $15 back.
Do another $100 transaction, get $15 back.
Do another transaction, get nothing back as you've reached your $30 limit.

      • +1

yeah if $30 unlimited then people will abuse this…. split payment 100x…. get the wife husband son to register….
at the end one person claim $5,000 cash back…

      • Why $15 back?

      • +3

Why would you get $15 back on the first $100 transaction? Wouldn't it be $20?

        • -1

Oh yeah, my bad. Thanks for that. Pretend it's 15% and then the math is right.

  • +1

So to pay a $2000 amex dollar bill using Amex I am charged $30 (1.5%), and my Amex balance increases to $4000. But I get $30 back so it's costs me nothing upfront, but not the points.

What kind of weird Inception premise is that? Is that even possible?

    • I don't think you can pay your Amex card bill using Sniip. That would be inception for sure.

    • +1

Since it’s capped at $30 just pay $150 of your bill, pay the rest using bpay. Btw Amex biller code isn’t supported. I got the message “we currently do not allow payments to be made to this biller”

    • +1

You can't pay any credit card. Or bpay your crypto/stock broker. It'd say not supported. Only bill like utilities or council rate works for me.

  • Hi OP, could you clarify 20% off each time ?
Each time 30$ cap or total 30$ off ?

    • $30 total across all transactions.

  • Can't seem to pay my amex bill with this app.

    • What are you using as your source?

      • The bill they send out. It wouldn't scan so I put the bpay details in. Says "biller not currently available" "we currently do not allow payments to be made to this biller".

Tried another credit card and got the same. Didn't try the ATO.

        • +1

You can't pay financial institutions using Sniip - otherwise it results in an infinite payment loop (albeit with a small fee)

          • @itx: It is not exactly a small fee, for 1.5% upfront fee you only get to keep the funds for 40-50 days. Didn't do my maths on the EIR but it is additive, so would be in the 10% range. Not a very good deal unless you are in a really tight situation.

            • @truetypezk: On the flip side, there are people out there would love to be able to create an infinite payment loop like that, particularly if they have a high points earning card - some value QFF points at >2c per point (some go as high as 8 cents), so even with a run of the mill premium card earning 1 point per dollar, they'd effectively be getting >2% back at a 1.5% cost, with an interest free period to cycle through on top. It gets even better for those out there that can claim the 1.5% fee as a business expense and therefore claim a tax deduction.

Of course, the general public won't value points in the same way (some value them at 0 because they're seen as a "bonus", whilst I personally value them at a more conservative 1c per point) and the economics won't stack up for them, and if they're just doing it to pay off a bill and tide them over for 40-50 days then you're absolutely right in saying this is a terrible way to do it.

All theoretical though, since Sniip doesn't allow this kind of cycling to happen :) They would've been prevented from facilitating this in their merchant/payment processing agreements.

    • On the sniip website it lists what types of bills are included and unfortunately credit card bill isn't one of them.

  • And how long does take to process the transaction usually ? No transaction reflecting on my amex account yet.

    • +1

usually if you do it before 6 pm its processed over night arriving 1 to 3 business days at the other end. note sniip somethings asks for id for account etc

    • +1

I made energy bill payment yesterday, showed up in Amex acct as pending. Today payment was successful, checked Sniip, bill still showing as processing. Now checked again showing as paid, checked energy acct still no paid yet! Seems like a long winded process. So what is the benefit of using snipp? Besides for the Amex offer!

      • I only use it when there is an Amex promotion. It took a few days for the payments to clear.

  • +2

Seems to be on my main card but not any supplementary

    • Mine too.

  • +6

Thank you, scanned through the offers this morning and didn't think much of it when I saw Sniip, thought it's some online shop I have never heard of.

Good you posted this, $30 back + $10 referral - $2 fees = great deal.

  • Thanks OP, a super cracking deal. Just paid my Rego to VicRoads (with referral, thanks to Lucas).

  • So just pay $158 with my amex to get the $30 back?

    • Why $158?

      • Less $10 referral money, but $2.25 fees, you pay $158 but amex bill you $150?

        • ✔👍

  • To get the max $30 back, you have to spend $150 on AmEx

    Is that $150 + 1.5% = $152.25

    Or $147.79 + 1.5% = $150?

    • +7

      It would be $147.79 + 1.5% = $150

Since the Amex cash back goes by the total amount charged to your card.

However if you're using the $10 off from a referral you have to make sure to select to use it at checkout. Then your total charged to amex card will only be $140. So therefore you will need to pay an even bigger bill (of $157.79) in order to get the max $30 back

    • +3

gessus just pay $160 what is $10

  • Aren't the AMEX deals sometimes limited to the first 20,000 card holders ?
ie. after the first 20,000 redemptions, the offer does not apply anymore.

    • +5

It's only the first 40,000 cards that have the offer saved, then you have until the offer expires to use it. Just need to be within the first 40,000 to save it to your card.

      • oh…i didn't know this.

i'm new to the AMEX universe,
and i was just perusing their Rewards portal last night, for the first time ever.

i liked what i saw, but got discouraged when i saw "first 20,000 members" (or something like that).

in that case, i'll jump on some offers then :-D

        • +5

That makes sense, I was also confused when I first got an Amex. It's pretty much the standard across all of their statement credits, just save it within the app or the website and it will apply until the offer expires.

Generally these offers will last quite a while before being fully allocated, but best to get in early and subscribe to the Statement Credits with the subscribe button function on here if you want to keep up-to-date and want to use that offer.

          • +1

            @doweyy: Thanks !
I never even knew about the "Subscribe" button, until now.
            ( how embarrassment )

            • +1

@whyisave: Don't be silly, we all learn something new every day :)

              • @doweyy: That's right.

If you say, "live & learn",
then I reply: "if you are not learning, then you are not living !"

          • @doweyy: Wow thanks, I didn't know that either!

  • Can an existing Sniip user please confirm, if one can pay rent using BPAY details on Sniip?

This would be great to meet minimum spend on my new AMEX-Qantas card, earn some Qantas points and pocket few $.

    Assume Rent: $1,500
    1.5% Surcharge: $22.5
    Cashback: $30
Net win: 1,500 Qantas points and $7.5

    • +2

You'll actually get 1522 points because the total earning spend is $1522.50. Otherwise that is correct.

  • +1

Try to pay Queensland Urban Utilities but it says "This biller does not support this payment method"

    • +3

you can pay by Amex by scanning BPay instead of Sniip QR Code.

      • It works! You are the legend!

      • Will you get 20% cashback (capped at $30 Per AmEx Card) if you scan the BPay instead of Sniip QR Code?

  • +2

so it's only $30 per account, not $30 each time?

  • +1

Tried to pay the $1000+ bill and found the 1.5% processing fee cost over $20
so best to utilise this cashback is to pay a bill just over $150….

Can I pay a bill by splitting into 2 transactions? eg. $150 Snipp and rest BPay?

    • +1

It depends on what bills you are paying, generally speaking, Yes

    • Yeah was about to pay my CC debt of 3k for the HsBC card too lol so just depends on the bill ..

  • +1

just sharing.. few months ago i applied lots of credit card with offer
"spend xxx in the first xx month and get xxxx"
t&c says no payment to government, cash advanced, the usual exclusion things.

so i was looking for services like sniip, where i thought i can "hide" my payment to for example, Liverpool council.
i called the guy at snip and they said dont worry the bank will see sniip only.
did a payment and then check my credit card statement: it says sniip liverpool ! wtf…..
so i paid the fee to sniip for nothing, the bank will still see my payment is for government bodies.

same with 3 other services like sniip. so yeah dont bother.

    • I’m part of Liverpool council too lol so guess don’t sniip the council bill?

    • +1

Good tips. I had this issue a few years back with Macquarie Hilton card. When I asked the CS, she explained to me, they can only differentiate the gov if we do direct debit or pay directly to gov website (like council). She then said, if I pay manually via BPay, that'd count (back then, no such thing as 3rd party like Sniip). And yes, it actually worked fine. Not sure it is now, but with PostBillPay too, for example, where u can use Paypal, it'd be too difficult for the bank to detect gov spending… tried it first if u just want to fulfill that spending…

    • I'm pretty sure that payments to councils etc. do count towards minimum spend but don't earn points

      • not for citi, anz and dont know what others . its clearly says payment to gov. isnt. and yes i tried to dispute them the guy read the transactions one by one and says this is council.
im not talking about points. just for the minimum spend to get xx for new customers deal

  • Zip pay 2 percent cash back seems easier

    • If you can be bothered trying to find somewhere to pay your bills in person so you can use contactless

  • where do you find your own referral code?

  • Does it really take 3 days to process the payment if you're using sniip?

  • 40,000 cards x $30 = a lot of money. I hope Sniip can afford it.

    • True, plus all the referral. Not sure if Amex pays some of it?

  • +1

does sniip do a credit check?

    • +1

of course no… its just another hand that touch your money between you and whoever you want to pay

      • Thanks mate

  • +1

Does Sniip allow payment to ATO PAYG bills ?

eg. collect points by paying those PAYG tax payments ?

    • +2

      yes and got points

    • +1

      Yes at full points rate!

  • The description itself is not straight forward. The credit, depending on the spending, is up to $30. Accumulative cap is $30, regardless of how many transactions you make.

    • Correct. 20% cash back to a maximum value of $30 per user which can be done in multiple transactions.

      • I just did my water bill. Paid some additional $3.59 service fee, which I should be able to avoid normally. Still $26.41 better off (30-3.59).
Now wait to see when the credit turns up.

  • So is this a 1 transaction only or multiple until the end date?

Also can't you bay multiple times?

Say u had 400 dollar bill.. couldn't you pay 200 2 times to get the offer twice?

    • Well imagine if we can… some people has $4000 business bills… split split split profit profit profits?

    • +2

Millzy is incorrect. It’s a max of $30 per T&C’s “ Offer is limited to $30 per Card to which the offer is saved and only spend on this Card counts towards the Offer.”

You can do multiple transactions to get to the $30 but you cannot get more than $30 cash back total.

      • Ah that makes sense the "each time" had me thinking otherwise. It'll only apply to $150 worth of bills..

        Apologies

        • +1

All good mate. It wasn't worded the best.

  • +2

damm i missed the referral code shame on me

    • jumped the gun #metoo missed referral. just paid water bill Apple Pay + processing fee. curious if it's multiple? got more bills to come

      • +1

rookie mistake i did that too. just use it when paying your need bill but be sure to scroll down on the payment page and select use rewards button . no expiry on rewards yet but they will bring in 4 months soon.

        • you can still use a referral code on this 'rewards button' when paying a bill?
sorry just want an explanation on this :)

          • +4

@prankster: You might be able to go to the "Your Rewards" tab and enter the referral code as a promo code.

I just tried it with my own referral code and it just said offer has already been redeemed (I used a referral code when I signed up). Seems worth a shot for $10.

            Edit:

Confirmed: To input a referral, tap on the three line icon at the top left of the screen → Rewards → Your Rewards → Enter Promo Code

        • Sorry, will rewards expire? I added it to my account then forgot to redeem it. It’s just sitting there and I want to use it in 3 months.

  • +1

Using this deal with the $10 off referal promo would equal to $40 in credit/cashback.

If paying all yours bills at Sniip's 1.5% surcharge for the new Amex Explorer card (to reach the 3k spend/3 months), you'd only pay $5 in CC fees, total.

  • nice

  • so after this $30 cashback if I want to avoid the fees but get the points, does anyone know if the Qantas Cash card works?

    • +2

Not sure if u can avoid fee, but give it a try. So far, I experimented with different cards (don't have Qantas Cash though), only debit card is really free as stated. Coles Prepaid incurred 0.5% (still not bad if u have a stack of them from the other deal last month)

    • I would assume the Qantas Travel Money card would work, because when I use it on other sites, it is classified as a Mastercard debit card (so it should incur zero surcharge). I haven’t tried it on Sniip though.

  • This is quite bizzare. I paid a $350 bill in sniip yesterday and now my amex account shows.

    SNIIP AUSTRALIA

    REDEEMED
    20/07/2021
    You saved $30.00

And the SNIIP offer is no longer showing in the "Saved to Card" section.

Will see in a few days if the $30 is actually credited.

    • +3

      What is bizarre about that…?

      • Ok I misread how they calculated the 20%.. all good.

    • +1

The SNIIP offer is no longer showing in the "Saved to Card" section.

That makes sense, because you have redeemed the offer. If I understand correctly, the “Saved to Card” section is only for AMEX offers that you have saved to you card, but you have not already redeemed.

  • +1

Great deal :) Paid $150 (after fee/credit) for the full $30 cashback and received AMEX used offer email straight after - So paid $157.78 off my bill as includes $10 referral joining credit (entered in promo code section when signing up in the app and selected to use credit during payment) minus 1.5% fee of $2.22. Currently in processing status in the app and assume will be completed by tomorrow or so.

    • +1

Just did the same! Mine says the payment date will be the 23rd (I put the due date as 22nd but actual due is 23rd hehe)

      • Oh yeah mine says 23rd too! I missed noticing that. Yeah I just made up a future due date for my bill as there was no due date on my bill as was already in credit when issued. So good to see it arranges payment for it when you submit, rather than based on the due date used when adding the bill.

    • received AMEX used offer email

Hmm i havent got the email. Already 1 day
