Tricare Liquid Hand Soap Refill 1L has been $2.49 for months, possibly a permanent price down.
So you're only saving 16 cents/L instead, not so worth it if you are in a small household

    • Its back to $2.75 I bought some last week. It was on special buys for $2.49 for a few weeks but its ended

      • +1

I've bought both, and worth noting that the special buy formula is runnier than the every day 1L refill. Not sure what that means in terms of performance.

    • Its 2.75 at my local ALDI

    • how small household?

recently got Palmolive Handwash misc varieties for $1.90/L via Prime day.

Aldi's quality is also lower, so not really a bargain IMO

Aldi's quality is also lower, so not really a bargain IMO

      How so?

        • +2

How do you think it's not?

        • I use both and for me there is hardly any difference.

      • -1

        I find Aldi’s one lumpy.

        • -1

          nicely said

  • +2

The real value is when these get discounted.

Anyone know what the active ingredient in the antibacterial ones? (Triclosan/other?) I thought they were supposed to ban the use of those

Has anyone used the Sous Vide Stick and the Vacuum Sealer - worth considering??

  • After using Palmolive handwash foam, I cant go back to handwash liquid. Feels and cleans so much better. Only downside, gets over soon. But its still worth it IMO.

    • +3

You don't need to buy foam refills. You can use these mixed with water and refill your foam dispenser. Works out heaps cheaper too cos it lasts way longer.

      • Really? Will try that out, thought foam formulas were different.

        • I use normal dishwashing liquid (Coles branded) 10-25% then water it down and shake it. Then add one drop of green food coloring for effect.

Save about 80% of foam refills.

@Naigrabzo: Excuse me, did you say you use dish washing liquid to wash your hands every time?
you just wash away all your natural body oil…

            • @AsukaST: Yes, very low concentration. General hand washing should not use foam just water. If you have oil from food on your hands, then you need detergent to dissolve oil.

            • +1

@AsukaST: If a person is spending time 20 mins a day doing dishes with that soap, a dilute formula shouldnt affect though - unless its cheap harsh liquid. But I prefer the fragrance of handwashes over dishwashes.

              • @[Deactivated]: If someone is doing dishes for 20 minutes, I would suggest some waterproof gloves also.

Why you not use dishwasher? cheaper and easier. Coles advanced dishwashing powder is enough.

                • +1

@Naigrabzo: I know a lot of people washing vessels manually, not everyone can afford a dishwasher.

          • @Naigrabzo: OK! Good to know :)

      • I remember reading that soaps are already diluted as much as is safe (to maximise profits) and if you dilute further there is the chance of bacteria developing.

      • What are your thoughts on diluting the soap?
I’m curious to know if adding too much water will be an issue

        • I've been doing it for two years now. No issues noted.

Majority of handwashing only really needs water though.

        • You just have to get the mixture right. Too much water = runny. Not enough water = doesn't foam up.

Can anyone comment on the quality of Goliath vs Glad?

    • +1

I mean.. it's cling wrap. I've used both. Not much difference. It wraps my meat just fine. Remember to use both sides for maximum utility.

    • +2

I found Goliath didn't tear well out of the box. Glad tears much better. They both melted when reheating in the microwave so i went back to Woolies Armada.

      • I've been using Goliath for a while and did have it melt into some baked beans once when I was reheating them.

At the same time, I know there's a bit of sugar in the tomato sauce and I was also a bit careless and left the wrap in contact with the sauce while heating, so I can't say that it wouldn't have happened with another brand.

        • now i am questioning my cling wrap usage … ugh how to use

          • +1

@capslock janitor: Don't sweat it, the vast majority of times it's perfectly fine. I'm still using a roll right now and I don't really have any major qualms about continuing to do so.

As I said above, the melting wrap scenario I described could possibly have been due you the particular food and also slight carelessness on my behalf rather than being directly related to the wrap itself

      • damn it melted??

    • +1

IMO glad is better and you can tell the difference. Sometimes Goliath doesn’t stick as well so can come off easier if you’re using them on bowls or if they get a little wet. That being said I still buy Goliath at this price

Thanks for your input everyone :)

My personal opinion. I find these are hard to fully wash off and leaves a sticky feeling to my hands afterwards. Can’t wait to finish using them (don’t want to waste it) so can back to other brands.

  • me in 20 years, still periodically exhausted with Long COVID

'See, son, breathing heavily there was this great deal on handwash'

  • holy crap i still have my big jug of white chamomile from last year felt like yesterday

    • kinda funny to think it's the same size as a big jug of milk
