I have a carbon steel pan from a different manufacturer but can not recommend cooking with these highly enough.

Fantastic anti-stick properties, heats like a dream and shows even heat distribution. Once seasoned properly all it needs is a decent clean and dry by hand and it’s ready to go again.

People will tell you all sorts of fancy stories on how you need to clean these things without soap etc but I’ve always washed my cast iron and carbon steel pans with dish soap and steel wool where required and they haven’t missed a beat in 10 years and counting.

I have a few lodge cast irons. How is this differ in terms of usage from the usual heavy duty cast iron pans?

      • +4

Cast iron holds a lot more heat, so when you drop a steak on it, it Sears it nicely; carbon steel doesn't do this as well, but it's a lot more responsive if you need to change temperature quickly (which cast iron doesn't do)

Agreed - There's a small learning curve, but once you've got through that, you won't go back to non stick.

Absolutely love cooking with my carbon steel pans. I got Pyrolux ones which are a fair bit cheaper than some of the other ones.

    • Can you throw it in the oven?

      • Yes

      • Yes but without the hot handle holder iirc

I got a couple of this from MacPac long time ago, $2 or $3 rather than this but it is quick thick and wide comparing your 53 bucks one.

Surface is a bit rough compared to others, however this was actually a paid feature of some solidteknics pans to help hold the seasoning.

Factory seasoning might flake off during first few uses, so don’t freak out just re season or keep using until new seasoning established. Apart from this great pan!

  • Back in stock but now $60

  • Ah man missed it. Now it's $110.01.
