47cm Charcoal Smoker $199 + Bonus Gift Pack (RRP $70) Delivered (Excludes WA and NT) @ Dusty Moose BBQ

30

Was on the lookout for my first bullet smoker and this came up as a great value for money deal.

My research shows that most feedback says the door Doesn't fit that well and need some fiddling to get it to fit, but it doesn't impact the heat retention much.

Most people seemed very satisfied with the dusty moose smoker.

    Real ozb eats veggies.

    • This isn't OzVegan

      • Haha, it is about saving money, and meat is very expensive!

  • quality low'n'slow - - > how slow?

  • Looks identical to the Charmate Lawson 470 which I picked up a few weeks ago from Outdoors Domain for $169 (RRP is $269).

Tolerances of fit between sections (and the door 'seal' and bottom air vent) is not as good as a Weber Smoky Mountain would be, but considering that's $699 RRP, I could forgive that.

There is a review video of the Lawson 470 which gives some tips on how to improves the fit.

I have completed three cooks so far at 110 - 120 degrees C (between 9 and 14 hours long) - suggest using briquettes instead of lump charcoal as the latter burns way too hot initially and needs more attendance (fiddling with the air vents) during the cook.

These are rubbish btw… i bought one.. store never replied back to me about a bad thermometer.

Also, yes they are identical to the Charmate Lawson 470.

You are wasting your money on an expensive re-brand with a story

These dusty moose lose heat so fast, i had to tend the fire so often. Literally every few hours and can really mess up the consistent heat

You are better off buying a Weber grill and using the Snake Method.

Don't waste your money on these..

If you have the money, the Smokey Mountains are much better. (i can do 6-8 hours without having to worry about temperature drops)

Second hand ones do pop up on gumtree
