Great mobo very good for overclocking especially memory overclocking
only downside is the lack of dual bios support and dedicated CMOS clear button, both just creature comfort features
    Highly recommend

    • What accessories did you get? Anything nvme related like heatsink or extension cable? I got one from techfast, with only the wifi antenna and 2 sata cables.. wondering if I'm missing something. Gigabyte's website is no help.

Too bad it's not the itx version.

  • Is it worth getting this if I don't plan to upgrade CPU for a bit?

    Currently have 2700x.

Crosshair hero vi is my current mobo.

Might be getting close to end of the line for AM4 socket, DDR4 etc - if you're planning on keeping your 2700x for a while you might as well ride it out on your current board and start over in a couple years imo

Is your current board X470 or B450? If so it might be compatible with 5000 series. AM4 socket due to be replaced next year.

Is this your motherboard: https://rog.asus.com/au/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-cross… ?

If it is, and if you don't plan on CPU upgrade soon, I recommend to just stick with it if you don't need any new features of the new motherboard.

The B550 motherboards don't support CPUs with architectures older than Zen 2 (so your Ryzen 3000 series CPUs in general). Also your motherboard support Ryzen 3000 series CPUs, which already bring sufficient improvement over 2700X in both single and multi thread. So if you do need upgrade, doing a simple CPU upgrade should be able to tie you over to the next generation, which will use new platform, which means you'll need to buy new CPU, motherboard, and memory all over again.

      • cool thanks for the advice all. I'm happy with current setup for now :)

  • Should I bother with these newer boards if I currently have a B450?

I wouldn’t worry until am4 is phased out next year, the B450s are still pretty good especially the mortar and tomahawks

    • At this price potentially worth the upgrade

I plan to build with a 5900x and 3070TI or 3080 (when GPU prices drop) is this a solid motherboard for that or do I wait to see what's available in 3 months?

    • I'm thinking about building something with that same CPU and from what I have learned, this is a good motherboard. If it's the right one for you, hard to say.

    • Or step up to the Aorus Master, one of the (if not THE) best VRM design for B550, but yeah it hurts your wallet one step more 😁

Has anyone installed this board yet and have USB issues? I'm planning on getting this but the obligatory reddit search reveals some USB / memory issues.

    • FYI the most recent bios update says "fixed" whereas previously the bios said "improved"

I noticed mouse jumpiness on the old bios that I no longer have on the new bios. But I have yet to use my pc long enough to give it some hardcore usb testing (cloning external hard drives etc)
