Pretty cheap for a SSD, pair this up with a case and you've got a decent external drive for the PS4/5
Reviews also support the decent performance and apparent 600tbw

Seems a Liteon OEM
The name bring back to 2000, liteon CD-RW drive, one of the best on PC market.

Timetec may not be a household brand but is in fact a Liteon OEM - the latter being a Kioxia brand, formerly known as Toshiba Memory.
Hummm one review for a unknown brand as far as I know but states a 5 year warranty ? Does anyone know more about this brand .
do you really need nvme for an ext drive?
not necessarily nvme, but a decent SSD will do.
https://youtu.be/dBteyaSCTfUnot much diff in price as an ssd so why not.
Does this have dram
At this price point, I am 99% sure it does not have dram.
Timetec? More like time bomb for your data
TLC flash, DRAMless and has about 250GB of SLC cache that will reportedly slow down to speeds of around 250MB/s temporarily when exhausted. Typically a TLC SSD will go down to 500MB/s temporarily when the SLC cache is exhausted. If it was QLC that would make more sense, so potentially there's a mix of TLC/QLC flash, or the quality of the flash used is questionable.
On a plus side it has 600TBW endurance, but it runs hot so be sure to use a heatsink.
Everything I was going to google for the next 10 minutes! Good work
Budget SSD good enough for secondary storage if a lot of writes aren't required or you want to use it in an enclosure to offer faster speeds than a HDD.
I'm eagerly looking out for another Kingston A2000 sale as the price is around the same mark and it has DRAM.
Dont write off all dramless drives.
WDBlues's handle 600MBps with exhausted slc cache, and 1300MBps+ while cache remains.
@MasterScythe: I'm definitely not doing that, but this one goes down to ~200MB/s once the cache is exhausted so it's pretty disappointing compared to others that go on sale for the same price point.
My Samsung 980 (not Pro) is DRAMless and goes to around 550MB/s when the SLC cache is exhausted. That's basically the speed of a SATA SSD and I'm happy with that.

Well, 21 years and going strong so far.
Gotta find me a 5 bay pcie card to raid-Z these.

Might look for some sata m.2's…. Hmmm.
Who's Timetec?
