Pointless sharing time. Sam & Max Hit the Road is the reason why I got a computer mouse. The whack a mole part of the game was impossible without one. At least it felt that way as 10 year old.

Fast forward to 2021… "But wifey, I really need (another) mx master 3 because…" :)

I had the Indie Atlantis game on the Amiga, never completed it and that has gnawed at my soul.
My main memory is that it required 17 x 3.5” disks! Insert disk 7, wait 30 seconds, insert disk 13, wait 30 seconds, insert disk 4, wait 30 seconds…

And then the sense of awe when CD-ROM was introduced!

      • Even though the sound quality on it wasnt great (Maybe 8bit sound), even to this day it still sounds futuristic to me.

    • I completed it. But maybe it wasn't on my Amiga. Maybe PC CDROM since I don't remember disk swapping. Great game though. May well play through it again. It would have made a much better movie then crystal skills, never did understand why they didn't make the movie of that instead.

    • Yep I had it for the Amiga (luckily I had the A1200 with 85mb Hard Drive so didn't have to deal with disc swapping).

I got stuck on the Sunstone, Moonstone, and Worldstone puzzle and as we didn't have the internet I never completed the game.

Yeah, I had that version too! Lack of hard drive became a real issue in the latter days of the Amiga with games like Fate of Atlantis and Monkey Island 2. I at least had an external floppy drive, which got me through pretty much everything since most games didn't take more than 2, sometimes 3 discs. But Fate of Atlantis just killed me - I don't think I ever finished it because the disk swapping just became unbearable.

I think I do actually have it on PC now, probably from a GOG sale or something. Might go back to it one day…

I might have to play it now on ScummVM on my phone 👍

        • Yes! I just finished it very recently with ScummVM on my (linux) laptop, but it can be played on a phone/tablet too (personally I prefer a mouse to a touchscreen but that's just me).

    • Grew up with an amiga but never even tried this. Maybe i had moved on to pc by then? dont remember.

Oh Plimsol, I know the feeling. I went back a few years ago, downloaded and completed it. My childhood suddenly felt resolved.

Sam and max is probably the funniest game I've ever played. One of my top 3 games ever.

BUT turn the audio voices off. The jokes must be read, not heard, to be funny

  • Two of the best games EVER!

  • +2

More than just great games, great stories.

  • Oh lordy. These are two of the best games ever made I wouldn't have played them in nearly 2 decades - so keen for this.

  • I just finished Indiana Jones: Fate of Atlantis a few days ago. I LOVED it. AMA!!
(You can use it for free with ScummVM at any time)

    Sam:
Max where should I put this so it doesn't hurt anyone we know or care about?

    Max:
Out the window, Sam. There's nothing but strangers out there.

    • Dos versions are, the games themselves aren't.

  • The next one they should do would be the 90's Ace Ventura point and click adventure game :)

  • +1

Disney, remaster Fate of Atlantis already!

    • Still a better movie than Crystal Skull. Had a dream when I was a kid where Indy 4 was Fate of Atlantis

  • +2

    Leisure Suit Larry next!

    • Indiegala have been dropping free copies of a few of them over the last couple of weeks. I think 5 is currently free, but 1 and 3 may be gone by now.

  • +14

Not seeing Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis available.

    • +1

came here to post the same.

    • Me neither…I want my Indy!!

    • Snap!

    • +2

It wasn't there yesterday but it's there now

  • I dont see either of them? - Ah nevermind it says september for sam and max

Also can we get Day of the tentacle remastered?

  • Waiting for the sam and max remaster

    • Available to claim now and quite a few others

  • +1

Do you need to install prime gaming on your PC to download/play these games?

I can't see my library at all on the site.

    • +1

Yeah, you'll need to download Amazon Games to launch them (unless it's a key for a third party like EA in which case you'll need Origin)

      • Okay cool, thanks!

Yet another launcher to add to the list 😆

  • Fate of Atlantis has to be the best Indiana Jones game ever. I really wish they did that story as the 4th movie rather than the trash we saw.
