  • I suggest you put diesel in the title

  • +1

    DPF/Diesel only.

    • You can also use these on normal petrol cars.

    Wish it was 0W-30

  • Too thin for most diesek engines

    • Unless you’re in a cold environment. Such as alpine region, Macedon rangers etc.

dumb question, will this work with petrol based engines, Im assuming diesel has more additives in it

    • +9

It's worth noting that this is NOT a Diesel-only product (despite the comments so far).

API SN is one of the most commonly called for specifications in Australian petrol vehicles, whilst ACEA C3 is a petrol/diesel specification. Similarly many of the OEM specifications listed cover both petrol and diesel applications.

Most (but not all) lubricants you will find for any brand carry a mix of petrol and diesel specifications. In what I'd term "automotive" products, it's pretty uncommon to find diesel-only products (they do exist but are rare)…most products - even those with diesel in the name - will commonly carry petrol specs too. It's far more common to find petrol-only specified products on shelves…though they'd still be the minority.

      • Correct. Infact Diesel and HDEO (Heavy Duty Engine Oils) usually have more additives etc for harsher conditions.

    • If it has an SN rating it'll be fine, if anything it'll be better as it has a higher detergent mix.

  • Not VW 507

Just bought 10. Will be running in a turbo petrol volvo. Meets the API SN spec but more impressively the Porche A40. Looks like a great oil, moving to slightly heavier 40 weight (which is the viscosity when hot) as car is modified.

However my manual also recommends a heavier weight oil as well in hotter climate (Australia is vs Europe) & harsh driving conditions (Australia is vs Europe)

Still have the $25 5-30 Castrol Edge from the last Ebay plus deal lol

  • This also works in petrol cars, will be buying 2 today cheers.

  • Autobarn has had great oil deals lately. Good to see them giving competition to Repco and SCA.

    • Ripco and Supercrap Auto

    • Prolly trying to get a bit more foot traffic into their stores. I wonder who eats the discount - head office or the franchisees?
