Vivo 40" Full HD LCD TV $299 @ WOW Sight and Sound

200

Not quite as good a deal as the Hitachi from BigW. But still a good price (DSE have this model on special for $398 (save $100) suggesting this usually sells for almost $500). Personally the 260Watt power consumption prevents me from buying this myself, however this still appears to be a very good price for a 40" Full HD TV.

Nothing else looks good after that deal from BigW

    xD

  • Does this signal that a TV price war is around the corner?

yep unless theres a 50" for $399 it wont come close to the big w deal…. mine has been dispatched…

agree, power usage is way too high, any savings gone with exlecticiy usage.

      exlecticiy….?

hmm what could i possibly have meant…

??? that's one for future historians to ponder for Millenia,,,

        ??

  • It is a good buy, but every Vivo LCD TV I've seen has had multiple dead/stuck pixels. If this will bother you I'd be cautious. I bought this TV from Dick Smith which has a good return policy and I was able to return it easily. On checking others in the store I was not prepared to take the risk on another one!

    • I have to agree, well mostly. I bought mine from DSE (delivered), it had some bright red pixels so I took it back to the store and got another one. That one had dead pixels. Took it back, the guy at the desk let me physically look at one in the store before I took it home - that one was perfect. So the third screen was a good one. :)

By adjusting the backlight, brightness etc of the screen it has a surprisingly good picture! The default settings are crap - just plain crap. Make sure you play with the settings!

I use logitech PC speakers with mine.

      • @ webbiegareth what speakers are you using? We are actually seeing lots of people do this for flat panel TV's for a bit of extra oomph with their sound

  • my Vivo has 1 dead Pixel and ive never noticed it during movies.
only when my face was up against the screen checking for them.

Why does this not compare to the Hitachi guys? Is it just because it's 40" vs 42"??

  • I have a 42" Vivo, well worth the money except the speakers in mine are woeful. Fortunately I have my sound through amp and speakers so it doesn't bother me. This is a good price and mine's been going strong for about 18 months

  • I have the 32" version of this, very decent TV but the speakers are pretty crap. Stick a cheap set of PC speakers with it an it works nicely.
