  • Purely an anecdote - I bought a pair of MIFO 05s earlier this year for $139 and haven't used my Bose QCs since. The MIFOs are great both in the air and on the ground. Not for everyone but they certainly do the job for me. I'd probably take my Bose on flights longer than 2 hours for the comfort factor, but otherwise they're staying at home.

I have tried a few True Wireless earbuds - Sabbat e12, Soundpeats Truengine 3 SE, Jabra Elite 65T but they've always had some issues. I've returned or sold all of them. They sound fantastic but there's connection issues or the mic for call quality is really bad.

Do you have any issues with the Mifo?

Also, my q335 IIs have never disappointed me and are still superior compared to TWS earbuds I've owned. My last hope is the Jabra 85T which are in the mail. If they fail me, I'll give up on TWS for a while.

      • No issues so far. Had them since January and use them every day. Callers tell me they can hear me fine but background noise is amplified, so I have to be in a fairly quiet area if I'm using them to make a call.

        • Most of these noise cancelling earbuds/headphones pick up background noise a lot. The only one which was great for cancelling outside noise for me was the Galaxy Buds Pro. But I returned them because they used to drop out during calls after a software update. Pixel buds were fantastic as well but very uncomfortable.

Jabra Elite 85t arrived yesterday. Will test them for calls and music today and hopefully, they're good for calls outside the house in a noisy environment.

    • How do the Mifo 05s compare to the rest of the field, like Samsung buds+ Sony WF3 etc. Reviews of Mifo buds seem very average, much worse than the popular buds.

        • Never heard of lonely brand. A few reviewers compare them to other budget buffs and they do okay.

          • @onlinepred: I can only compare them to AirPods, as my wife owns those. The MIFOs have noticeably better sound quality with superior bass. Presumably the in-ear design helps with that. They also have much better battery life. The fiddly buttons are really their only downside. And as I said, they're good enough to replace my QCs on trips - and I'm somewhat particular about sound quality (though not an audiophile).

            • @enzso: Airpods have next to no bass though. I mean the MIFO's are more expensive than buds like the Samsung galaxy buds+ that have reviewed very well, and they do actually sound really great. The only thing MIFO seems good for is battery life, otherwise seems very average. I mean if you are comparing MIFO's to only Airpods and QC35, I would say you aren't that picky right?

              • @onlinepred: Not sure why you're trying to make a point based purely on reviews. I'm speaking from personal experience as an owner of all 3. Come back to me when you've bought a pair and tried them for yourself.

                • @enzso: I'm not going to buy a pair of cheapo no name buds man, I've been down that road many times. I bought galaxy buds+ for $115, and they review incredibly well, and actually sound fantastic (for the basic consumer buds). I have no clue why anyone would buy MIFO over the top buds when the top buds are cheaper? Anyway, glad you like them, but they are not headphones, and you can't really recommend them unless you tried actual competitors to them, like buds+, jabra, etc etc

                  • @onlinepred: Of course I can recommend them without having heard their competitors. I know what bad buds sound like, and I know what good headphones sound like. I'm not saying the MIFOs are better or worse than buds+ etc etc, they may well be not as good. I was merely relaying an anecdote that having bought a pair I no longer use my QC35s. I think they're excellent value for money.

I personally prefer my 5.1 speaker setup to these headphones. I might use my headphones if going somewhere out of the house, but otherwise I use my 5.1 system.

Ive got a pair of the cheap ones on Amazon, TaoTronics. Paid like $40. Great for exercise. But sitting at a desk these QC35s are amazing, bought a pair last week and can actually wear them for hours comfortably.

    • Agree.
      Superior comfort and sound quality.

    • I am wearing the TaoTronics 85 now, a bit hot and not very comfortable, is this really a lot better?

      • I have Tao in ear ones so can't compare. I wanted some for when working at my desk and these were on a want list for years. Finally got them and they are awesome. Used them for 3 hours last night, not hot to wear, comfy, easy to pair with devices. If you can justify it they are really good headphones

Warranty from Bose or the seller?

If anybody's passing over these because they're more interested in the 700's - don't. The 700s are worse. Virtually identical noise cancellation with noticeably worse sound quality and a higher price tag.

My original QC35s have lasted I think 4 years now of daily use, and they're still going strong. Just buy the QC35 IIs.

    • Are you buying it as a spare? Just curious because this is largely the same as the first version except Google Assistant and the button disable NC which I believe you can do in app with the original.

      • Not buying it. Would have bought it if I hadn't already bought the 700s. I made my bed and now I have to sleep in it, but perhaps my experience can help others.

  • When I check out and use after pay it says the code cannot be applied to your order. Why is that?
Happening for other items also. Any way to get around that?

    This, xm4 or bose 900?

    • keen to find out too, the xm4 has the refurbished for same price though

      • -1

XM4s are really uncomfortable after about an hour, and the call quality is worse.

    • i have both
qc35 have softer pads i.e slightly more comfortable
xm4 has better sound quality and more customizable, better noise cancellation + other useful features like speak to chat

Have had mine for a couple of years now, absolutely love them. One of my better purchases.

    • +1

Other than usb c, does it lack anything?

      • Nothing that I can think of, no issues apart from my dog getting to them.

  • +1

Bought a pair of these years ago and they are still going strong, use them daily. Rough estimate I'd say I've actively used them for at least 2000 hours. Retain the charge as good as the first day, and are comfortable to use for hours and hours. They've been in my bag with no case for countless trips and survived.

Only thing is that the padding on the cushions starts to deteriorate after 2 years or so, but they're easily replaced for like $15. This might be because I had them open in a bag.

    One of my smartest purchases!

    • +1

are comfortable to use for hours and hours.

Will it getting a bit hot after hours of use like other headphone?

      • +1

Depends on the ambient weather really. If it's a hot day then sure, your body sweats and produces heat, so it'll feel hotter. but I've used them in warm conditions and it's been fine. but everyone is different.

  • +1

Does this support background/ambient pass through? Does it automatically pause when you take it off?

    • +1

You can disable noise cancelling, not sure if it’s the same as ambient pass through though. And no it won’t pause the music when you take it off like the AirPod.

  • +1

How is the microphone on these? I have a fair amount of calls working from home.

I have the QC25s which are amazing but the cable broke, purchased an aftermarket cable and the mic is terrible.

Since then have been considering going wireless given the official Bose cable is $40 plus I’d never know if it was truely an original cable.

    • +2

Mic quality is excellent. The person on the other side can hear your voice very clearly. However, it does pick up and amplify some ambient noise. If you're in a quiet room, that wont be an issue

  • +3

Still going strong 4+ years of use, highly rate the QC 35 IIs
