  i picked this up from the salvos with the battery's for $5…not bad BUT not many cars make it around the track…my kid has a whole box of them and only around 5 keep making around…

    Agreed. I think you need fresh D batteries to get it to work properly, as even slightly used ones don't have enough juice. I mean after about 10-15 minutes your new D batteries don't cut it.

    And if it does work, IMHO it's boring. Watch it going around in a circuit by itself. Most kids will watch it go three laps then walk away bored.

      I think the point is to connect it to other Hot Wheels tracks, not necessarily for it to aimlessly going round in an 8 shape.
