Been hanging out for a holiday so took a risk and booked a trip to Cairns for the wife and me on Jetstar.
After booking our car hire and seeing the silly price they wanted for insurance on the hire care I started to think about travel insurance. Normally I wouldn't have bothered but with everything going on, and not wanting to pay the crazy car hire full insurance rate, I decided I'd look around.
The best quote I got was from Insureandgo - they exclude COVID claims as most do at the moment - and then tried to find a coupon code which still worked.
I don't expect this will get a lot of votes - but if anyone is looking for a coupon code which still seems to work - this is one.

Yes for car rental excess, according to their web site.
Is the price quoted per person or per family (2 adults 2 children)? For around $65 seem reasonable if for whole family (domestic travel)
Be careful with InsureandGo and the underwriter Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company Limited.
Whilst the sections of coverage seem comprehensive and limits generous - their rainbow coloured PDS is a minefield.
Don't expect any customer service in the event you need to make a claim.
Long story short:
Paid over $1000 for their policy with optional 'natural disaster' (taken out in 2019 before any mention of COVID)international trip cut short due to COVID - Claim Denied
Not really a natural disaster though. What did that cite? Force majeure?
Not covered by the examples of natural disaster in their definition - although AFCA have in other instances accepted that COVID is a natural disaster under policies where natural disaster is not defined.
The point of my comment was to make sure people consider the PDS carefully.
There are plenty of red coloured exclusions, general exclusions, specially defined terms, etc.
Then and more importantly the green coloured things you are covered for are very specific events only.
COVID is not a natural but artificial disaster, as virus was made in the lab.
You'd be much better off getting a credit card that comes with car rental insurance
Most credit cards I know of do not provide insurance cover for domestic travel though, only International.
The last time I checked, my Amex and Visa both cover domestic car rental a few hundreds Km from home
Oh, good to know. My CBA platinum card doesn’t.
Still seems to work: 20% off with groupon20
Too late for me…already use the Holidays15 code to purchased… seem cheap… hope they are ok!!!
Does travel insurance cover car rental?
