$187.65 $213.76 - Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80 Ohms Closed Dynamic Headphone

I've been eyeing these as a closed back alternative to my HD598s for when I need sound isolation. I have the K371s from a previous deal, but the leather earpads just don't compare to velour, and my ears will start to get hot, even during this Melbourne winter. From what I've read, build quality of the DT770s should also be better.

  • We only get charged once the order ships right? I kinda wanna just reserve it and think about it until it ships haha

Haha you really do have a problem! :P

This is a fairly regular price range for this on Amazon, so I think it might be worth putting this to one side and demoing a few of these headphones when you can. Beyers have notable treble spikes that are not for most ears, certainly not for everyday listening

The only Beyers worth writing home about from a tonal perspective are the DT880 and the DT177X Go, but the former still has treble issues, and the latter is $500 for heavy at-home closed back that doesn't exactly excel against open backs.

      • Haha looks who is talking, you are also on to every headphone deal! :P

Yeah just did a 3camel search and seems like not only regular but it did hit even lower recently.

But much appreciate the response and talking some sense into me haha

I did a quick research to remind myself how these were and yeah seems like everyone is of the same opinion. Considering I have the hd280s (and with gentle EQ they actually do pretty well!) I am going to put this one on hold! And maybe look for a good Shure or an AKG monitor later on good deals. (I missed the AKG but hoesntly mainly because I already spent a good bit haha)

While we are at it, I have ordered the O2 amp from drop. Will I missing anything with my new HD6XX with just that? Do I need to be looking at a better amp and/ or a DAC? Even better, the O2 amp/dac is only a little like $40 more, should I be getting that instead? (Just looks so old and there is no bypass to dac to only use the amp for later flexibility :/ )

I hope I am not boring you to death haha :D

Personally I'd go for the Magni 3+ and the Khadas Tone Board… should be under $280. It's about $30 USD more for the Magni 3+, but I'd make that trade as it reaches further in terms of clean power, and more power.

Both are fine for the 6XX though.

I believe so, that's how other orders from Amazon have worked for me. But I don't think they give you notice for when they'll charge you. Might be a bit risky if you're on the fence.

This is a great price, and these are some of my favourite cans in the world.

If you don't have something to drive them well (receiver, sound card, headphone amp, etc), then the 80Ohm version is probably a better idea.

Super comfortable, built like tanks, plenty of spare parts available if needed, and they sound outstanding. My first pair lasted well over 12 years of daily abuse. My second pair has been going ~14 years, and still look near-new.

Thanks for the info, that's good to hear about their durability! I'll be powering them with a JDS Atom stack so I went with the 250 Ohm version.

        Should be an awesome combo!

  • Am I too late? I can only see the 80 ohm version for $213.76 plus shipping.

    • Yeah looks like it unfortunately. The 250 Ohm version is still $185.22 though.
