2.5" drives usually aren't shuckable as WD hardwire the SATA controller to a proprietary PCB controller.
I have one plugged to my laptop via USB 3.0 but it does not say what drive is inside. Says only WD Game Drive…
not shuckable so no point
you need seagate or some other brand (not WD) if you want shuck… in 2.5" hdd
I brought the 12TB version of this and shucked it just fine. Sitting in my PC now.
2.5" are known not to be shuckable cos they solder on the board as mention above
your one is 3.5" which is different
@pinkybrain: True, I retract my previous statement lol
One of the Amazon review's for this hard drive, had a person that tried to shuck one. That person said the drive part number was: WD50NMZW
Same person also said it was impossible to shuck the WD P10; "it doesn't have a SATA interface and the USB control board is soldered on".
It is awesome as an USB 3.0 drive. I use it to store videos to edit and transfer rates are awesome…
It shows as $170 for me if I join prime, am I missing something?
Oos. Only 5TB ones for $170
Anyone know what drive is in this case? Thinking of getting one to shuck for my PC
