  • Great prices for these studio monitors. Thanks for sharing!

  • rokit 5 might be sold out by the look of it. Damn

    • back in stock mate

  • Wow. Good prices 😱

  • +1

Only one speaker and not a pair?

    • +1

Yes, looks like one. Almost pushed go, so thanks for reading the fine print!

      • Yeah, $250 for a pair would be insane. Cheapest elsewhere is $350 a single unit.

  • one per customer?!

  • Thanks, was looking at these on the weekend and now picked up a pair!

  • +1

I'm looking for new studio monitors for studio, music production mainly techno, house. Would these be good? I'm a bit out of touch!

Anyone know what Cashback % these fall under? A friend of mine said these are awesome.

  • What other hardware is needed to run these speakers?

    • You need an audio interface.
There are so many. Just depends on ur budget

      • Yeah

Any recommendations for a midi controller? I bought alot of gear 10 years ago and never used any.

I see alot these days which looks super loaded, I need to start a music production thread on here!

        • +1

I have just returned to music production as a hobby. Altho my route may not be what ur after.
I have chosen to go the Native Instruments ecosystem route. So i purchased a NI m32 keyboard, NI audio interface and recently bought the K13 ultimate collecters edition which is currently 50% off.

I purchased the rokit g4 8". Mainly for the wider and lower frequency range so i dont have to buy a subwoofer.

I make hip hop beats, i sample alot and already own a Maschine. So im happy within the NI ecosystem.

    • They have built-in amplification so you would only need an interface and a couple of trs/xlr cables. Take note though that the input on the speakers is balanced only, so you will need a balanced output on your interface or you may be able to get a balanced to unbalanced cable.
Edit: I just noticed the Classic 5's have unbalanced RCA so that's a decent option if you don't want to bother with balanced

      • Setting up sounds like the worse part, one of my mother's friend is a full time music engineer and music and he said he'd help me.

I have an old PC, I spent 3k 9 years old and never turned it on once 😂 I didn't even buy a keyboard, just the PC custom built & a 24" monitor still in the box and now I'm looking to set up again.
It should still be good for music, but my midi controller and various other things are out-dated.

I am 50/50 if I should buy now, just don't want anything sitting around for a total set up.

I'm definitely going to start a Music thread on here for open discussion!

15% $20 cap CB ATM per order, so if you do individual orders for each unit it'd be $460 for the pair.

      • Any examples if you're just using a laptop?

        • You need an audio interface regardless. It usually plugs in via usb to ur computer/laptop.
And the speakers connect to ur output on the audio interface.

  • MY B'DAY is next week, I think the family will get a 'hint' soon.

  • I posted the below earlier, IMO this post is a better deal if you don't need the Free Headphones.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/626577

    • The free headphones are not that good anyways

    • Yeah, this is much better
If you can score similar cashback like today $460 is a pretty good price. $240 cheaper.

      • Is the 10% cashrewards cash back guaranteed, I've had no cash back claims recently. otherwise I notice they have a $10.00 off when using the Amazon App.

BTW I am intersted in the $149.00 ROKIT5s sweet spot for what I want, the others too big for me.

        Thoughts?

        • It looks like this falls under "Musical Instruments" in Cashrewards which is at 4% giving a $20 discount for the Rokit 8" - Total $480
The shoprewards was capped at $20 so this seems like the better deal. However since this is considered a promotion (prime day) then that may void the cashreward discount.

          Thoughts?

          • @adventuremax: IMO, o% actually (sadly).
Electronics includes (but not limited to) Bluetooth Speakers, Bluetooth Head & Earphones, Stereo Components, Speakers and Other Electronics.
            Electronics = 0%

          • @adventuremax: It was capped at $20, but per transaction
2 orders for single units would of yielded $40 cashback in total.

  • Any advice or know of any goos deals for XLRs, I want to use the 5s with my M6 Numark mixer.

  • How would I go about connecting a pair of studio monitor's to my PC's sound card which has a 3.5mm output? Sound card is a SoundBlasterX AE-5. I have been told it has unbalanced connection. Can I still connect my sound card to a set of balanced speakers if they don't have an unbalanced connection?

Also, not sure what the difference is between balanced and unbalanced. I've also never owned a pair of studio monitors before, so not sure how it all works.

Anyway, do I need to get a 3.5mm to XLR or TRS cable/adapter where I can have the speakers at least 2m apart?

I was also told to get a Focusrite Scarlett USB Audio Interface as it would be much better overall (I might do so later on), but for now I just want to use my PC's sound card.

    • Does your monitor have an rca connection? If not then they most likely have balanced inputs only.

In a nutshell balanced connection passes two signals through the cable, the original signal and phase inverted signal which then get phase inverted again and summed at the destination. Any noise picked up on the way on the two separate signal paths will cancel each other out as a result.

Having said that, you could buy a y-cable consisting of 3.5mm stereo trs jack on one end to two xlr plugs on the other. This will not be a balanced connection (since the source is not balanced i.e. it does not send two phase inverted signals). However it may just work, you'll need to try it out. You will not get benefits of noise suppression that a genuine balanced connection provides, but that shouldn't make much difference for short cable runs in a home setting.

Audio interface with balanced outputs is still the best option. Behringer makes some cheap but pretty decent audio interfaces.
