No OS? No dedicated Graphics? I can build this for at the very least $150 less than that. Rip off!

    • That's including assembly fee, delivery fee and 2yrs warranty?

    • +2

That's a big claim, but don't forget there's 2 yr BTB warranty plus the free shipping.

Market pricing according to Static Ice and WP Wiki:

      Core i7 2600 - $290
      H61M-HVGS - $48
      4GB RAM single module $20
DVD burner similar brand - $24
Antec 100 One-Hundred Gaming ATX Tower Case No PSU $64 (MSY)
Antec 450W ATX NEO 450C ECO PSU $59 (BYO Power cord)
      Samsung 1TB EcoGreen $78.90

      $583 not incl shipping

This is probably what I'd build myself, given a similar budget. The big difference is that my build has a better case and a reliable power supply, not a generic one, which you probably wouldn't use in a Core i7 build…

      • agreed about the PSU + case.

        • We custom build PCs to suit your needs. We can upgrade the PSU and case to something else from our partlist.

        • This gets my + vote for free shipping / custom building, but otherwise the price on the system itself is fairly normal. Shipping and building fees usually amount to a hundred at most places. MSY charges $70 for the building, but they don't deliver. Plus peace of mind with the 2yr BTB warranty.

So yes, good deal, esp for those living in the sticks and can't reach an MSY.

        • +2

and don't forget to factor in MSY's 2 yr QIS warranty (2 year Queue-In-Store Warranty)

      • damn, beat me to it. But agree, it's not much cheaper to build it yourself, if that's the sort of thing you're after.

    • It's not too bad really. From MSY's prices I totalled $573

      CPU - $311
      Memory - $22
      HD - $105
      Motherboard (substituted Gigagbyte H61M-S2P) - $56
      DVDRW - $19
Case (Avg'ish price of MSY's cheapest cases with power) - $60

      Total = $573

      Unless there's something i'm missing?

    • Maybe orange123 read it as 'i5' not 'i7'?

      • -1

Yeh I had mistaken the CPU.

  • +1

I think I would prefer the Aldi offering at $499:
    http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_20705.htm

Sure it not Intel but it has lots of goodies already installed.

    • -2

Win 7 for one. Also I had mistaken the CPU on this.

    • The CPU lacks punch, but it has better inbuilt graphics.

That's probably good as a family/ gaming budget PC, but not a workstation one.

      • +1

Probably not an issue for most people, if you were serious you wouldn't get either computers.

  • I would personally not rely on warranty past the 12 month mark unless someone here has past experience with the company being good with warranty past this point.

Also if you are not a computer geek yourself, I would just get this from Aldi http://aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_20705.htm

Also be aware, if you don't buy Windows 7 with your computer its very expensive, I'm unsure who this deal is targeted towards….

    • We can pre-install Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) OEM on this PC for an addtional $105

      Upgrade Options:
      +$105 Add Windows 7 Home
      Premium (64-bit) Full Genuine
      Version OEM [Free Pre-install]

      • +4

I know you'll do whatever you want if I give you enough money.

I was commenting on the deal, not what you can offer me for money.

Maybe you should rethink who your target audience is, its not computer geeks that's for sure.

  • +1

    o.O

    No windows operating system.

Yet you say you provide driver installation for free?

  • I do like this deal - however, motherboard is a downer for anyone wanting to purchase a NEW pc.
Sadly is the very very base model without SATA 3 or USB 3.
Regardless of Mobo - everything is still quite a nice price!

  • Hey Op can swap an SSD 128GB instead of the 1TB 3.5"?

Also how will it be delivered? Registered Postage? Otherwise it could get "lost/stolen".

Please specify delivery method as getting the actual item is pretty important ;)

    cheers

    • We can upgrade the hard drive to a 120GB SSD for an additional $79

Regarding postage. We ship all our PCs via Fastway Couriers (www.fastway.com.au)

All PCs are shipped as registered post and we will provide you tracking details once PC is sent.

All PCs also come with insurance. Up to $1500 coverage for no extra charge.

  • That is an attractive bare-bones PC for me, liking CPU…hmm what to do.

  • I need a barebones system for the parents and this is quite tempting. Only thing holding me back is the effort of buying from a VIC based store in terms of warranty.

This computer looks overkill with the Intel i7-2600 if we compare it with the on board graphic.
An Intel i5 is pretty enough (even a P4) considering the market target for this computer and you can save money.
Then nowadays it doesn't make sense buying a brand new desktop with an on board GPU because a decent one isn't that expensive.
Think about some games (basic ones) requiring separate GPU as well as we don't know what software will be installed on this computer and so they would require more power.

This computer seems targeted to people who want just surf internet, chatting, listen to music, word processing, some very basic photo editing, watching dvds etc. and so again for this stuff an Intel P4 is plenty enough.

Also I can't understand why there isn't an operative system (or with OS choice) already installed as this is the most crucial step for a well functioning computer.

    • Have you used intels HD2000/HD3000 series onboard video? Personally tested TF2/F1 2010 on an i5 2500k with onboard video both ran fine, sure you cant pump out 8aa/8af with bloom and quality to the max, but for the 90% of gamers who doesnt expect a game to look better than a 360 game it will handle np.

We are not in the 90's anymore.

No OS in the default package makes sense to me as well, what if i already have XP or 7 and im replacing my old pc? Guess would have been nice if they offered a linux distro as well.

      • Just FYI if you didn't know, the 2500k/2600k has better onboard graphics then the 2600 offered above.

Yes you heard it right, uber 1337 overclockers need higher powered onboard graphics, so Intel delivered!

      • I agree - glad its not packed with windows 7 so I am forced to pay M$ money - the intel cartel normally forces you to do that - eg. you can't buy a Dell without it….

Thumbs up for me given buying the parts alone would cost almost as much - just dont rip people off on the upgrades like say iibuy.com.au does……

  • +1

Motherboard video onboard limited to VGA (analogue) no DVI or HDMI out. Limited to SATA 2 and USB 2 speeds, Audio onboard limited to 4/5.1 channel audio out or 2 channel and microphone input. not both. No digital audio

If HDD is green I wouldn't use as OS drive. would always go to sleep and have to wait a few seconds for it to start. Before use.

Pc looks ok for business and basic work/school use.

  • +1

This is a similar build from IIBUY
    http://www.iibuy.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_free_shi…

$609 also comes with free shipping. My family members have bought 2 of these and are very happy.

IIBUY rip you off when you went to upgrade the video card or PSU or whatever though….

    • +1

I would say "much" better value for only $30 more!

Better motherboard, it supports SATA3, 7 channel audio, hdmi output.
The onboard GPU uses up to 1800GB memory while we don't know with the system from this thread.
      Free Internal Multi Card Reader.
      Free Bluetooth v2.0 Wireless.
      FREE Windows 7 64bit with service pack1.

Operative system installed as well as the provided software, all tested and ready to go.
Just Windows' value alone makes this thread not a deal for sure.

      • No free Win 7 *Please Note: If the customer does not purchase the Windows 7 DVD, we will wipe off all the data on the hard drive after we finish testing the computer.
So the customer will receive a computer without any software installed. And the customer have to install the Windows himself/herself after he/she receives the computer.

        • I said "free" because if compared to this computer's thread it's already included and that is a big value not mentioning it already installed and tested.
Even you choose not to have it, you'll save I guess around $150?

        • Agree - I can confirm these IIBUY PC's DO NOT come with Windows 7 unless you pay for extra for it….

        • That's right, you have to read the page carefully to realise that W7 is in the Upgrade section. So as GWH said, no free W7 for the iibuy PCs.

        • the iiBuy website just trying to confuse people there!!

I read that the Win7 Media is not included, but is the Win7 Licence included? or not?
