90 Days Expiry on QFF Points Earned on Westpac Credit Card

Hi all, just want to double check with the fellow Ozbargainers about what I have been told by Westpac.

I called Westpac to cancel my Altitude QFF credit card a few weeks after getting the sign up bonus but was told if I proceed with the cancellation, the bonus points I earned would expire in 90 days. After did a bit of reading on the T&C, I couldn't find this anywhere. And I have done it in the past, none of my QFF points was expired after 90 days.

Is this a new policy or this Westpac staff was bluffing or doesn't know what he was talking about.

Thanks!!!

I thought when your bank deposits Nnnk into your nominated QFF account, that is a transaction event therefore all your QFF points will be kept for 24 months unless spent. If you have another transaction event, the 24 months resets again.

I have closed bank CC cards years ago and I still have my QFF points from those promos.

I think Altitude points will expire 90 days after closure.
QFF ones wouldn’t. I’ve found with foreign call centres customers often know more about the product than staff do, as they are getting minimum wage and reading off a script. Probably negatively effects their stats if you cancel.

Hokay, lets clarify some stuff here.

Westpac Altitude is the Westpac Rewards arm. You earn Westpac Rewards through this

If you opt in for the Qantas program, the points are automatically converted and transferred into your Qantas account.

The 90 days they're referring to is the Altitude reward point expiration date (check your Altitude Reward account balance). If you've already converted your points into Qantas points and they're in your QFF account then you're fine in which case the points sit in the QFF system.

  • Thank you for all your answers.
I am gonna try one more time and cancel it regardless.
