TCL 55P615 55" 4K Ultra HD LED Android TV (2020) $595 + Delivery @ JB Hi-Fi

180

Folks, I see a good deal, I share. I'm not an expert on posting, and don't have time to provide much other info than:

Had great experience with this TCL TV as I had to get one for someone last year and its awesome! that price is a steal.

I'll buy this TV once my Sony TV breaks.

  • 50hz refresh rate. No thank you.

yeah.. if you like to watch talkshows than 50Hz is not enough.. You'll need 60Hz.

      • This tv has barely any reviews online and the spec list on TCL's own website is suspiciously light on details. I'm sure it's a fine tv but for the price I don't think it's a bargain.

      I mostly use 24Hz. What content is > 50Hz?

If you want to use a TV as a gaming monitor, say so, otherwise you come across as clueless about video frame-rate.

Good to hear you had a good experience with TCL, I bought one a couple of weeks ago, 43S625, hoping it has longevity.

The remote control of mine is a bit poor - slow, limited range.

    • Agreed, I think the remote can be improved. I got overwhelmed by the picture quality and forgot about the remote.

  • I purchased the Hisense 58" s5 last week from Jb-Hi fi listed for $595 and very happy with that… Non Android tv

    • I'm tossing up between this one and more expensive samsung.

How are you finding it? Have you tried gaming on it?

    • Seems like a better deal, although this is the budget Hisense range I believe?

    • then why is it called smart TV?

      • +1

Because it has Hisense's propriety OS called Vidaa. It has Netflix, Prime, Stan, Youtube, etc. ; no Kayo or Disney +

It has built-in apps such as Prime, Netflix, Stan, Youtube etc but doesn't have the google play store (running its own software)

I bought the TCL 50P715 50" for $575, which has Google TV built-in. The newer P715 model might be worth it for the Google TV interface alone, also comes with a voice control remote.

    • howaaronic - Do you find the Android TV interface okay to use? I was worried about performance. Did you consider the model above PC715 ?

      • The performance is decent. I recently made a software update and I think apps and navigation are performing better than out-of-the-box.

Anything above P715 was out of my price range for this unit. If I were to spend more, I'd save for a QLED/OLED.

This comes with the Google TV interface, which places all your sources (Netflix, Disney, Prime, Kayo) in one interface. See here: Difference between Google TV and Android TV

I can't be certain if the P615 has been updated to the new interface, best to check in-store.

    • This is Android tv. not Google tv. Google tv is for 2021 and tries to integrate all your sources in a unified interface.

Not a bad price on this TV. I have been researching getting the model above this in 50" for my Mum 50P715 ($696 at JBHIFI but was going to pricematch Videopro price at $575).
Reviews I found for the P715's say its a good tv for the price. Was also considering the model above 50C725 for $100 more which has slightly better QLed screen. ($795 JB $660 Videopro)
New improved 725 models I think are due soon
