a good deal for Samsung T5 1TB Portable SSD, although not the lowest price comparing with the previous promotion from Binglee Ebay store. But still a good price, giving no stock pretty much everywhere.

** According to BigW, free delivery on mini $100 spend. So it can be delivered for free. There is no point to check local stock level and have local pickup. **

** update: ** it seems out of stock already.

$1500 on a Pentium 90. $500 on the motherboard. $900 for 450MB SCSI HDD. $1600 on RAM but cant remember how much it had. Life is pretty good now from a tech point of view, even with pandemic pricing.

Pick up is faster. Delivery tends to take about a week time. I have been using the free delivery for awhile. I hope they will continue this after the campaign as it would bring up their revenue, and easier for me 😂

I still have my 2TB T5 unopened. Why do I keep buying so many SSDs?!?

    • keen to sell it? I'll give you $200 (same as the previous deal)

  • I bought the same one in an ebay sale beforehand, I can say that it is a great ssd, I use it to store my coding projects and I run them right off it. It works great!

  • Not that great, T7 is better, I bought 2 500gb T7s 2 months ago for 120 each. Double transfer rates.

… if you have a machine with compatible ports

      • Compatible ports? It can be USB C to USB or USB c

        • Yes but the drive's performance is restricted by the speed of the USB port it's connected to

          • @andresampras: I'm sure it'll have USB 3 at the very minimum or 3.1, T7 is 1Gb/s which even USB 3 supports….

            • +2

@PotatoDealzBoi: Let me reiterate - I agree with you that this isn't the best price for this product, but your assertion that T7 is better may or may not be true, for different people.
Re. transfer rates - this depends on the available USB ports on the user's machine…some people use old computers that won't allow the T7 to use its extra speed capability.
Re. storage space - 500GB vs 1TB is a huge gap. For someone who just wants a lot of storage, the potential extra speed of the T7 may not compensate for the fact it has half the capacity (at this ballpark price point).

              • +1

@andresampras: If someone has USB 2 only then they have much bigger issues to worry about than to get a SSD. And for the price that I said, for 40 more you can get the same capacity at double the speed, and transfer rates are everything to everyone in every situation. I think you're just trying to argue for the sake of arguing. I posted the price for comparison and advice, instead I've sat here arguing with your insisting ass. Find me one person that likes waiting double the time to transfer their photos to an external HDD, I'll wait.

                • +3

@PotatoDealzBoi: I didn't realise we were arguing…I was just trying to elaborate on your slightly biased comments.

transfer rates are everything to everyone in every situation.

                  This is patently untrue.

Find me one person that likes waiting double the time to transfer their photos to an external HDD, I'll wait.

You say this as if the T5 has floppy disk speeds. It's more than fast enough for a lot of people that only do occasional large transfers.

                  • @andresampras: You're talking about a stone aged situation for a new aged technology, everyone has access to USB 3+.

                    • @PotatoDealzBoi:

                      If someone has USB 2

Where did he mention USB 2? A lot of us are still on first gen USB 3 which gives real-world performance of around 500MB/s, half of what the T7 is capable of..

                • @PotatoDealzBoi: wait….can you really get the 1TB T7 for $160?

  • I bought this from Amazon a couple weeks ago for $149

  • I have a 2TB one of these. If anyone is interested speeds: 550MB/s with USB-C & 480MB/s with USB-A sustained write with cache writing enabled

  • It is back in stock now.

    • Can't see any in stock?
