  • is it Tuya compatible ?

    • No and that is a very good thing! These can work locally without the need for an internet connection. They also do have a cloud connection for integration with Google and Alexa

  • Do these fit in the standard clipsal wall boxes? Used in brick wall homes

    • The metal boxes that GPOs fit in? Surely not, there's barely enough room for cables.

    • +1

There is no standard clipsal wall box. There is wall plates. Generally, there should be enough space behind the switch in a brick home but it will depend on what switches you are using and how the switch plate was originally installed.

  • Can someone give a quick rundown of the differences in the Shelly models? E.g. which ones are good for what? The descriptions aren't too specific.

Would any of them be good to put in behind a solar hot water booster switch? Can then easily schedule it to only turn on during the day to use the generated electricity from our new solar system..

    • Hello,

Each Shelly device has different features but as their application is so vast it depends on your requirements which one you need. Things to consider:
      1. Voltage
      2. AC or DC
      3. Dimmable or non Dimmable
      4. Need of Power Monitoring
      5. The Load of the device you are switching in watts or amps

If you tell me this I can advise which product will work best.

      • Thanks!

I'm more looking to put these behind standard clipsal wall switches to make them smart. Some light switches so dimming would be great. I have dimmable LED's.

I believe the switch for hot water would be a 15A? Everything else, just standard clipsal wall switches for plugs and lights I guess.

Is there a comparison chart of different Shelly products?

        Thanks

        • These need to be installed by an electrician. There is no guesswork. Please ensure you consult a licensed electrician to advise and install for you. We have install partners Australia wide if you need recommendations.

What's the difference between SHELLY 1PM WIFI MODULE and SHELLY 1 WIFI SWITCH?

These look like they both are installed by a licensed electrician behind a normal light switch?
They are both wifi operated, home assistant capable with scheduling.

Can the 1PM Wifi Module be installed behind an outdoor GPO by a licensed electrician? If not are there compatible units?

        Thanks!

        • same question. Different on the select source voltage.

Do these work natively with Smartthings? Or do you need to flash with Tasmota?

  • Can you do any deal on Shelly Dimmers?

    • We already have a deal of buy 10 and get 2 free.

  • hi OP,

which one will work with/to control PIR sensor.
My idea is to switch on outdoor light say between 6 - 9 pm, then after that let the PIR sensor do it's thing.
Also, how do I get your list of installation partner? I am located near Macquarie Park, NSW.

Is there a similar option that uses ZigBee?

  • Hi there, will this fit behind an architrave switch?

  • We are in the process of building, approaching lock up. This is something to investigate. Thank you for posting.

    • +1

We’re just approaching construction starting. After a bunch of research we’ve decided to go with the Shelly’s behind a standard Clipsal Iconic switch.

      • Are you concerned of having a congested wifi network? Wouldn't ZigBee scale better?

        • +1

Nope, no concern at all. In our current home we have probably 50 connected devices using just the one router and we rarely see issues.

In the new build we'll have everything hardwired (that can be), upgrade to Ubiquity hardware and have 2 or 3 AP's to get full coverage on the mobile and IoT devices.

With Zigbee, there can be issues with different brands not communicating with each other even though the hub can communicate with individual device and I have also heard that the more Zigbee devices you add the more chance there is of delays between relays etc.

  • Ordered yesterday, and this morning I received an email thanking me for my business, and offering to answer any questions…just wanted to give props for some good service :). Thanks OP!
