While the price after discount is good, ebay seems to deliberately encourage price jacking. They only offer discount on price jacked items while other sellers have fairly priced listings.

For example: Peter of Kensington has it listed for $239 and it’s an ebay plus listing
Yet ebay chose Matchbox to offer this $100 discount on, when their listing price is $299

Lets say ebay is forking out that $100, then why would they not choose a listing that has better/real price than a jacked up price. They would still be offering same amount and it would attract more orders. Unless of course they have shady deal with matchbox to not actually payout whole of $100.
