25% off Repco Batteries: Q85 EFB Start Stop Battery $205.50 ($0 C&C) @ Repco

130

Have been waiting for the Repco Q85 battery to be discounted as the battery of my Mazda 3 2014 BM SkyActiv has been showing signs of aging (warning lights are coming up). Can finally swap it out and have peace of mind when I drive!

These don't get discounted very often, normally $274. Even my mechanic says it's a good price, they sell ACDelcos and are not able to match.

The Century equivalent at Supercheap is $274.99

25% off all Repco batteries. Sale ends today, so get your order in!

Don't forget 2% cashback from Cashrewards. AUD 4.11 for the Q85.

@tatasauce: The repco battery does it say where it is made in?

            • @Turd: I haven't picked it up yet from the store yet unfortunately due to the lockdown in VIC.

              • +1

@tatasauce: Ah ok, be interested to know where it is made from, once you get it.

                Stay safe in VICTORIA!

                • +1

@Turd: Doesn't help answer the question of where they are made, but they are designed and supplied by Century Yuasa who make Century Batteries. The Repco and Century Q85s look identical from photos.

                  • @tatasauce: Yeah if it says Made in Australia or Made in Japan or Made in China

                    Maybe it wont say?

I got one of the Q100 Panasonic batteries - These are purely Made in Japan.

                    Just curious

@tatasauce: Century car batteries are made in Australia. Therefore these Repco car batteries (being rebranded Century car batteries) are made in the same Australian Century factory.

@Turd: From memory, the Q85 may be made in Korea.

              • @Paranoid Perry: Nah i'm quite sure that it's made in Australia.

You might of had a different battery. Different car battery manufacturers make Q85 batteries.

              • @Paranoid Perry: Correct. Majority are Australian, but there are a few exceptions between Korea, Japan and Indonesia.

      • Would my Mazda 6 2016 Sport GL have the same issue soon?

        • Maybe not, my 2014 mazda 3 has only started displaying the warning light in recent months. The start stop system took last winter off and then came to life again for summer. Such an annoying feature, get in your car on a hot day, go 50 metres, stop at lights and car and air conditioner is turned off with windows up.

@The Magic Pudding: I did the business card trick to turn off i-stop every time the car starts. Just use something to wedge the button in the pushed down position permanently.

            • @tatasauce: I really wanna find some way to permanently have istop turned off. Is this type of wedging method safe? Like continuously having it pushed… or is it safe

              • @TwentyTwoCarats: Pretty safe I reckon. Must be something in the circuit that detects the short when the car is started, and doesn't detect it again until the button is released and pressed again, or when the car is restarted.

There's another method where you physically disable a sensor in the bonnet near the latch, but the card method was easier for me.

The safest method is to hold down the button every time you start the car, and after 21 days hopefully you form a habit and it becomes second nature!

                • @tatasauce: "The safest method is to hold down the button every time you start the car"
Except sometimes you don't get the green light straight away so you can't turn it off.
It isn't in the most accessible position when you're driving either.

        • My warning lights started after I drove it very little during the first covid lockdown. It goes away if I charge it with a charger but eventually comes back on if I don't drive a considerable distance every day.

But I reckon 7 years for mine is a long time for a start stop car battery. If there are no issues with yours then perhaps wait for the next sale? Can't say when that will be though. Last sale was in Nov 2020.

  • Good price, bought same battery for same car. Had no issues with start stop function on these batteries. Been 1 year

It's a rebrand of this Yuasa car battery. And this is definitely Australian made. So yeah i was right it's aussie made.

    • From someone in the industry, this particular battery is Korean made by Se Bang Batteries.
Also the Repco/Century/Yuasa are all the same battery from CYB just stickered to the retailers request.

  • I bought the Q85 a month ago and it's definitely Made In Korea.

  • Can I install this battery in a normal car. i.e in a Toyota Aurion?

    • It might be bigger than some

      Length 171mm
      Width 230mm
      Height 222mm

  • VW Tiguan 2016, which type suit it

    • You can select the car that you have on the site, top right hand corner if on mobile browser.

Once selected, going to the list of batteries should show you which one fits.
