A whopping .13c off since the last time this cast iron pan was posted 2 weeks ago.
Added this to my cart as I was looking for a certified HDMI 2.1 cable (Zeskit) to go with the PS5 earlier today. Free international shipping if >$49 spend

If y'all are looking for simply a "nice pan", consider something like this.

Many of the sought-after qualities of cast iron but you don't need to become a weirdo to own and maintain one
Isn't the process for looking after carbon steel almost exactly the same?
To summarise: slightly more complex but almost exactly the same.
Where does one become a weirdo?
Some minor comments on that, I think they have it backwards. Carbon Steel likely has a lower conductivity (depending on carbon content). Apparently often between 1-2% which would make it lower. This would also result in more even heating i expect, as it allows the kinetic energy to disperse throughout the metal more evenly.
Actually the biggest advantage for a lot of people is weight. The properties of carbon steel allow for a slightly thinner wall/handle (and possibly base to some extent) to better balance heat retention and usability.

Thermal mass and heat retention are the biggest sort after qualities of cast iron for me. Carbon steel doesn't have either of these… guess I'm just another weirdo
I always see this bizarre conversation that goes on about cleaning and maintaining them, of a type that I never see with literally any other cooking tool. Gives me cult-ish vibes
Yeah I do find the superstitions about cleaning cast iron odd.
Detergent is fine. I'll use a nylon brush most of the time but have no problem using steel wool when it needs.
12" cast iron is the way to go. I have this exact same one and love it. Have the ALDI enameled 10" cast iron and the extra 2" makes it more useful for cooking for a family.
Has been under $30 quite a number of times.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/505316 $26.74 for example.
I got one with the last sale and I love it.
No issues? How are they quality wise?
back on sale - $35.94 for the 12 inch
Damn, i don't meet the minimum spend :(
Just add anything else that tips you over, submit the order then immediately cancel that extra item. I've done that several times.
Wow never tried that before. I might give it a go. Thank you!
How does this compare to the Lodge cast irons?
