Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT Wireless Bluetooth Headphones $189 + Shipping @ PC Case Gear

190

Not sure if the previous deal that was posted from PCCG actually expired, but appears to be back in stock or active again now.
Generally well reviewed and liked wireless headphones.
Cheapest shipping for me was actually Startrack Express shipping at $16, this may vary slightly so may end up cheaper if you are nearby PCCG, but pretty nice to get the express shipping for no "extra".
I ended up going in to JB Hifi and they price matched the price + shipping so I didn't have to wait for delivery, if you get very lucky they may forget to add the shipping cost and charge you $189, but that's not guaranteed and relies on getting very lucky with a new salesperson.
Pretty close to historical low price, even with shipping.

From reading previous posts on OzB for these headphones, may be a little tight fitting on larger heads this can result in them being uncomfortable after extended use, so keep that in mind when purchasing if you have a massive cranium.

Edit: Also found this listing from StoreDJ for $199 with free standard shipping, so that might be the better option, especially if you are price matching JB and avoiding shipping wait times entirely.

    no ANC?

    • +2

      Nope, but still sound great

  • ANC will deteriorate the quality of the audio regardless of which brand!

Yeah for sure! I think the momentum 3s did a good job of having ANC, which isn't the best or the strongest, but didn't take away from the sound quality, cause they sound great

  • These are still one of my favs even today.

    • They're a decent, versatile stepping-stone, but you don't have to pay a huge amount for something better

      • I've spent much more and haven't got that much better. Really depends on the sound signatures you like.

  • Are these good for gaming. When I play, I like a bit of oomph in my speakers rather than a subdued true sound.

    • They do have a bit of bass in them, but you could always EQ it

    • Bluetooth lag would potentially be an issue, the headphones themselves are pretty good for gaming, although the soundstage is a little lacking

      • Thanks. I believe these ones have a 3.5mm aux in port as well.

I might look for some gaming headphones for the fake 5.1

        • The 3.5mm port is proprietary so you can’t plug in a normal audio cable.

      • Because the speakers are so close to your ears, it's actually really great for gaming, being able to place sounds etc is a good attribute of these cans.

        • I've had them (the wired version), they do the job but don't compare to open-backs when it comes to direction/separation

          • @dav3: For sure, just like headphones can't compare to speakers. Each type of headphone has pros/cons. In most environments open back lets too much sound in and interferes with it's ability, and also lets lots of audio out. Ideally I would prefer speakers over headphones, I don't have many uses for my open backs anymore since I got desktop speakers.

    • get the blackshark v2x if youre gonna use wired, cheap comfy good mic

  • Great sound but not comfortable for long periods of use. If you're planning to use on long flight/train/bus ride then I'd suggest going for something else.

    • I've used them on long haul flights, they get a bit warm but aren't too bad. You can also replace the pads with something more comfortable.

Isolation isn't that great though, they let a fair bit of noise in.

  • Would these work as a wireless Xbox headset? How bad would the lag be?
