  Is the UDM Pro overkill for a home/remote work environment with gigabit? I'm tossing up between this and the much cheaper USG to replace my pfSense VM.

    I have one and it's great, overkill, probably. But having everything in one place with Unifi for me is worth it.

    The USG won't do 100Mbps with IDS/IPS filtering on apparently, but this will. Not overkill if that is what you need.

  I think the issue with the basic USG is that throughput is apparently only around 90mbps if you have intrusion detection etc turned on. The other option is the USG-PRO-4.

  Great all in one device for those who want USG, a Switch and UniFi Protect. I run one at home and find it is amazing, even with IPS/IDS turned on it doesn’t impact my NBN.

  I have this and its a great all in one. Integrated my unifi wifi APs and 24 port switch.
  had a few bugs early on but seems a bit better now

  I have divided my network up into 3.
  Infrastructure
  Main
  IOT/Dirty
  And Guest
  I have firewalls between them. Put junk network devices (IP cameras, ring etc…) on the IOT

  I highly recommend it if you are technical. If you are not technical its probably not worth it.
