    For real bargain hunters, I recommend buying the parts separately and building it yourself (or places like MSY which does it for $70(?) ) than buying pre-built desktops, you save alot more that way.

      Or $50 at Centrecom.

      However, depending on where you buy from, that's not always the case. Centrecoms high end PCs for example are hard to beat price-wise building them yourself.

      This, though, is quite a rip.

    Just to clarify its not a Asus PC as the title suggests, it contains a Asus mb and Asus video card. Nice specs,

  • CPU = $200
    Mobo = $419
    RAM = $48
    HDD = $122
    GPU = $185
    Windows = $99
    ODD = $21
    Case = $119 (Antec Dark Fleet DF-35 Case)
    PSU = $113 (Corsair TX650)

    Total = $1326. This is a pretty good price.

    But you could upgrade the cpu and downgrade mobo. change GPU. Would be much better value.

    $1140. $5 cheaper. You could get this much much better build
    CF 6870, better CPU, CPU cooler.

    $1,140 ($1,500) Intel Gaming Config

    CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K $235
    Mobo: Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 $135
    RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1333 $42
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB $109
    GPU1: 1GB AMD Radeon HD6870 $189
    GPU2: 1GB AMD Radeon HD6870 $189
    Case: Antec 100 $69

      Asrock sucks mate.

      • -5

        My AsRock X58 Extreme 3 motherboard died a week ago after 2 years of mild usage.

        Not going AsRock again! Bought myself an EVGA Classified and I am not looking back.

        Avoid AsRock.

      • +1

        You do know Asrock is a sister company of ASUS

    • +3

      You forgot about Win7, assembly charges and 3 years warranty for the whole PC.
      These products ( pre-built one and parts )are just for different types of customers.

  • Good deal if only for the warranty

    cheap shitty ram i bet,

    2400…

    gets a neg sorry.

    • +1 For $1145, 2400 just not good enough.

  • just noticed I also comes with Battlefield 3 or Assassins Creed Revelations free

  • -7

    This is pretty good too - $1183

    • 1st gen Intel. Why would you buy that now?

      • Who cares what gen the CPU, if it's a good bang for your buck.

        This particular deal doesn't ring my bell though.

  • +4

    Soooo…. Is it rouge so that it goes faster?

    Doesn't look red to me.

  • i wouldn't recommend anyone buying a sandy bridge powered pc atm due to the release of intel's new ivy bridge in april. At that time u will get processors with higher speeds with roughly a 30% less power draw at not much more for what your paying for the current sandy bridge. Also if you're looking for something cheaper you can still get a sandy bridge then and I assume they will crash in price not being the current generation of cpu's

    • +2

      There is always something just around the corner

      • but better for current gen to go down in price…just like buying a 2011 TV in 2012

      • +1

        There is, but when something is very close to being released it's worth considering. How often do Intel release a generation of processors?

        • Seems they're going for yearly now if you include die shrinks, which is what Ivy Bridge is.

    • Yeah you also shouldn't buy the iPhone 5 when it comes out next year because the iPhone 6 won't be far away

      • +5

        Why would you buy an iphone in the first place?

      • +2

        No silly! You buy the iPhone 5 as soon as it comes out so that it's at least 6 months old before the new one has to be bought!

  • +1

    Asus Maximus 4 Extreme M/B with 2400?
    no thx

  • +4

    I dont get why you would pair that motherboard with those parts?

    • So perhaps they have something worth mentioning?

  • +1

    It's a decent enough build, but you can certainly do better if you build one yourself (or get a mate to build it for you in exchange for dinner and $50).
    If you can't get a custom gaming PC done up then I guess this is better than what you would find in most large retail stores (Harveys, OW etc) :)

  • -2

    This is not a bargain, I just built a PC for $1000 and has way better specs. eg 2500k, 2gb 6970 video card

  • +1

    For "average" people who don't built their own PC(and who don't check out ozbargain ?) this is a good PC.
    And even after the release of intel's new ivy bridge in april there'll still be heaps of old sandy bridge PC's to be sold/gotten rid of.

    • average people wouldnt know whats a good computer and whats not.
      ive seen many average people in stores like harvey norman or jb asking the sales rep for advice then buying one after being told it can use word, send emails and surf the internet

      • And it still costs them over $2k…

  • +1

    That Mobo is way overkill for that system - waste of money on that. As mentioned earlier, better GPU and SSD would do wonders for the system. Probably a fair price for the system but the specs don't make much sense when put together.
