I dont know what happened to the Good Guys. Their prices are not as good as they used to be.

    • +4

They joined their cohorts in gouging the public.

      • wasn't Good Guys a part of Hardly Normal?

        • No they are seperate. Well in ACT that could be different like anything else!

whats on sale? its after 8pm and i dnt see anything marked down!

    • +12

Mate it's what you should expect for an "Australia Day" sale. They clearly have set the prices at Australian prices.

  • +3

There are discounts across our entire online store.

Pfft.. Lg 42lw5700, over $1000. Every Sony I looked at - at least $100 more than I'd ever seen. Can't be stuffed looking further.

I had a look at the TV's but definately "ünderwhelming" - also couldn't be bothered!

  • nothing really special, the 20% off vacuum is nothing compare to the xmas sale

They think the public is stupid?

Prices are higher than before Christmas.

No wonder the retail sector is going shit. How about giving us some good deals for christ's sake.

But mate there doing it tough. Harvey Norman only made 251 million dollars profit in the 2010-11 financial year which is 21 million dollars more than the 2009-10 financial year.

i'm passing around the hat for them at work.

      • they're, not there. FGS don't they teach people in schools these days. Its all games and political correctness classes. We did real metal and woodwork wherein we lost fingers. We became men who did not fear our girlfriends and can spell.

        • "It's all games", not "Its all games" :-) "It's" = "it is", "its" is the possessive. Back to shop class for you ;-)

  • I think i can find better deals online … only if Walmart ships to Australia!

    • Use a mail forwarder. Most times even with the ridiculous international freight costs it STILL works out cheaper than buying locally.

I was recently looking at Thermarest self-inflating camping mats. In the US, the price ranged from $99 - $129 whereas here the same thing goes for $159 - $279! Considering I wanted to get a couple of them, factoring in shipping from Price USA, MyUS or whatever, works out better to buy o/s.

  • there is no specials.

  • Not a single cheap item

  • "Up to…" XX% off means "not a bargain". I got the Miele S5211 from them for under $300 a few months ago

I will give this deal "up to" one 1+ vote.

  • Prices are nothing short of woeful - Dammit good guys, you used to be… good… guys. You see where I'm going with this.

Good Guys, we need to talk. I guess lately I've been thinking about how it used to be between us, missing those days when we used to enjoy a real, honest to goodness cash/EFTPOS relationship. Remember when you sold me that fridge? I couldn't believe how good the deal was. And my TV? You beat everyone else by miles. You were always there for me when I needed you. But then over the years you…changed. You got more pushy, less generous. Now all that's left is a bunch of products with price tags on them. It's not you, I guess, it's me. I just got used to 'less for cash!' actually meaning something rather than just being a marketing motto. It's time we went our separate ways, Good Guys. I hope you find what you're looking for.

    • +1

Fully agree, that less for cash is almost non-existent! Usually they try to push it as already the best price that is easily more than HN or Domayne by miles! Now it seems Pay More Pay Anyway!

  • Sorry lads, just assumed there would be some decent deals, but it doesn't sound like it. Might pop in to check out the in-store options later today. Don't have high hopes though…

  • nothing there, i cant get cheaper elsewhere, infact some things are currently cheaper on special at competitors next door!

These deals suck. There… now I can neg it.

  • I wanted to purchase the Garmin Nuvi 2350 that was advertised in the current catalog for $139 but went in today to find out they increased the price to $160. So I took the catalog to HN and got it matched.

  • I saw this deal this morning via email and saw an Electrolux 6kg dryer advertised online at the good guys website for $462. I went into the store, and when I walked in and it mentioned 15per cent off storewide. I thought great, I can get an extra 15 per cent off the advertised price for $462. However in store the product was advertised at $519. We mentioned the advertised special online, and she went to her manager to get a better price. She came back and said the would match the price online $462, but then questioned her shouldn't it be 15 per cent off the advertised price of $462. She went back to her manager and said the best they could do was 15 per cent off 519 which would now be less than 462, which is now $441. We then questioned the good guys policy if you see it cheaper within 30 days, she just turned around this is the best prices exclusion applies. so disappointed in the false advertising.

  • well at least i dont have to wait for a sevice person, went to the DFO store a couple of times, no one there to serve me on fridges the first time, no one around to ask. walked out after ten minutes of no service.
second time went in for a/c asked someone, they said they would send someone over.
walked out ten minutes later as i didnt get any service… was contemplating sending an email to head office. waste of time driving there… well its there lost sales …
