UPDATE 16/5-Dropped another $6.
Not the cheapest, but better than the last deal. eBay APP required.
Not sure if can use SWAP gift card from Shopback for another 5% off. And possibly bring down to 395?
Enjoy!!

Lol what they're for completely different purpose
Bought! Been waiting for a deal like this to replace my Ryzen 5 2600.
but need new mobo right?
Nope, my x470 board supports it with latest bios
You do realise IPC is a thing and that frequency can't be used to compare speed across different generations, right? The 5600x is about 25% faster in ST and performs close to 8c/16t zen2 in multithread.
"the 3600 is still the value king."
You started well…
Tbh 11400f is probably better value
always remeber the motherboard price.
@Hornpub: for budget motherboard $99 vs $79… not much a factor when you spend 3 times for cpu
Had hope that the next gen would be significantly ahead of previous gen (3950X), while keeping prices competitive.
Was disappointed.
Hmm in the Ryzen 5 line for sure, but the 5950X RRP is only $50 USD more than the 3950X and it is significantly faster.
5600X is very bad value for money honestly, 3600 at $220 is the one to beat
5600X has way better IPC however. It's not a little bit better - it's a lot, it's a huge improvement in the architecture.
I think too many people are stuck in the Intel mentality of every generation is within ~1% performance of the last, they can't comprehend AMD releasing 20% year on year / gen on gen improvements.
AMD also jacked the price on 5000 series to match the generation's performance increase.
The 3600 at rrp is the same value equation as the 5600 at rrp
5600x is definitly on the expensive side. after watched like 5 videos of benchmark that includes 5600x, i can say it is a beast of cpu for sure, it should be in R7 tier.
Where can you find a ryzen 3600 for $220?
Does one typically see an uplift in gaming performance when the GPU stays the same? I’ve got an ageing 6700K + GTX 1080. How much faster would games like Cyberpunk run at 1080p when I replaced the CPU with a 5600X?
Probably a small uplift, will depend on the game if it’s CPU or GPU heavy. But it will make a bigger difference if you upgraded your GPU later. Hardware Unboxed did a good video looking at old CPU scaling. They also did this video showing poor Nvidia performance with older CPUs. The examples in the video are extreme (e.g. very old CPU with top end GPU) but still a good guide
i am 2600+1070, really want to find out how much more fps this can help me.
i only play fps competitive titles, and 2600 sucks in terms of gaming (fps). i know i better off saving 600$(cpu+mobo) towards my gtx1070……
A very good cpu but overpriced. $350 would be great
This price is already below MSRP. Mind you, I do think it will hit sub-$400 before too long.
agree, 399AUD MSRP, with like 329$ deal would be so sweet.
Awesome deal, hope the only 1 year warranty doesn't come back to bite me in the ass.
Upgrading from a 3700x, for them sweet ipc gainz, should be able to sell my 3700x for $350 on ebay so not bad at all.
seems to have been a flood of 5600x’s imported in to AUS recently, and now it’s a race to the bottom in terms of margins before stock runs out. I wonder what Amazon has up their sleeve?
I would be buying if I didn’t already have a 10980xe
