Hi Ozbargainers,

I've scooped a carton of Pharmacy Action Period Pain relief (Naprogestic generic alternate) at a really good rate from one of our suppliers - This product flys off the shelf retail but is just starting to get an online following of repeat clients.

    That's a bloody good deal!

    no deal.
    $10 for 100 x 250mg here:

      Your link requires:
1/ You to consult with a doctor and get a prescription
2/ You to present at Chemist warehouse with the prescription and pay $10
3/ Active ingredient is slightly less (ie comparison isn't even valid even if other conditions were same)

This deal is for OTC Period pain relief: $7.99 delivered. No prescription required, free delivery.

If you want to compare an apple with a pear - this is a better comparison (we're still cheaper + free delivery):

I'm happy to be shot down in flames, but you'll have to try harder.

I think you missed my real error: Yours is "Naproxen Sodium", which is more quickly absorbed, and also the reason for the slightly higher mass.

So I take it neither of us understands these products properly?

        • +11

I'm not here to start an argument, just pointing out that your comparison is not valid for a number of reasons. In all seriousness if you can find better on any of our deals (same for same) and I need to sharpen up, I would welcome this information. I know very well that only the tough (and the cheap) survive on Ozbargain so I want to make sure I earn my place here by being cheapest in market.

@jason101: The joys of pharmacy. Don't miss it one bit….LOL Good luck to all!

@shuttlesmasher: Yep. Dr Google is the single worst thing ever to happen to medicine and pharmacy. Everyone is a keyboard google-certified doctor now. Sigh

              • @dangerdanger: Yet a GP I saw asked me to refer to 'Dr Google' about a question I asked. Unsure if she didn't care or didn't know.

                • @akyeeeahdude: I'm pretty sure she was trying to get you out of the room, probably because your question wasn't worth answering. lol

                  • @dangerdanger: More likely a numbers game mate. Bulk bill practice and just burn through consults as quick as possible. Quite profitable

          • @jason101: Don't worry about them, I think they're just on their period lol

      • Aleve you can get 220mg naproxen but don't need a prescription. Think this changed in recent years.

Also not here to start an argument but honestly options are options and this is still a pretty good deal here by OP.

Reading this post/thread was enough to cause me enough headache and pain, period.

  • Can it be used for tennis elbow

    • +1

For pain relief sure. Any NSAID would do.

      • +1

Stronger than ibuprofen etc though. Good for back spasms and sprains.

Damn. Too late for Mothers Day!

  • +2

    DO NOT USE:
During the first 6 months of pregnancy except on doctors advice
At all during the last 3 months of pregnancy

My take on it is, if you are having your period, the above does not apply….

  • Thanks OP - got two of the naprogestic tabs. Good deal!

  • +1

Get it for your Mum for Father's day.

  • OP, you've mentioned troubles getting supply from India in at least one of your recent deals. How many of the generic antihistamines are likely to be affected? Should we be stocking up on anything that we're talking regularly, or just certain ones?

    • +1

I don't want to cause unnecessary panic buying, but if 300,000 people per day are contracting covid, food insecurity may begin to present in parts of India. When/if this occurs - my thoughts are that sending discount generic Telfast to Australia will be pretty low on any drug manufactures priority list. Suppliers are telling pharmacies not to worry, but at store level we are trying to maintain around 2 months supply of high volume lines made in India.

Thanks Jason, so should I invest from this that most, if not all, of the generics come from India? I had thought that companies like Sigma locally made most generics we see in Australia. However, i have no recollection where i had gotten that idea.

  • Got some, thank you!

  • Thanks, BULK LORATADINE x200 tablets is a great deal

  • Can we have 30 x cetirizine tablets for $ 7.9 deal again?

    • Let me see what I can swing….I had a huge shipment of 50's come in, I'll see if I can work out a deal.
