  • Are they new books or used books..?

    • There appears to be a mixture so depends on the book.

Comments on the search results says: "Books described "as new" will be in an unused condition. Books may be wrapped in clear contact and contain Unidbooks markings."

  • Negligible savings (costs more after shipping) compared to my co-op shop, and a poor range of texts.

    • Hi, we have a limited range because we're clearing out our excess stock.

    • Why not tell us more about your coop shop, so OBer's can help you build your buying power, by buying from it? :-)

I guess it'd just be the Co-Op bookshop on campuses? http://www.coopbookshop.com.au/ (usually appears on Booko).

        • I don't think they sell refurbs or second hand. Coop bookshop has never been cheaper for my uni books, most expensive actually

        • There is a small second hand section in my co-op. They charge 17% commission so many people prefer to sell privately.

        • @ThePistonHead…hmm ANU doesn't seem to have one AFAIK

  • i just clicked on 6 books and all 6 were out of stock. im not going to waste my time, is there any actually in stock?

    • Hi Kwaker, all our listed books are in stock. Is there something in particular you're after?

I don't know if any guys know about this but you should try www.textbookexchange.com if you are a uni student. There are real deals on that site, and they always open for negotations as ur dealing with other uni students. check it out

  • The book-list has photo-thumbs for most books (good), NO PRICES…!!!

Who wrote rhe underlying database-based web app? Children?!?

(Also, I see you also rent (some) books… Wild!)

    Pro-tip my fellow Uni students….
    Go to here:
    http://booko.com.au/

Save yourself a fortune. Avoid buying from Australia unless necessary.

      Pro-tip #2
      Try textbookexchange.com.au

Avoid buying from retailers unless necessary =)

      • +1 for textbook exchange. If I can buy a book 2nd hand and sell it next semester for the same price or a bit less, I'm a happy man :)

    • Just note, co-op shop member prices are around 10% less than what booko shows. I just go with co-op because the other places booko finds are only marginally cheaper so it is not worth the hassle.

      • +1

Not worth the hassle? Ozbargainer licence revoked

    • @engineeringprof & @azxtani - cheers for that! info like that is one of the main reasons I follow OZB.

@ThePistonHead - care to share more about co-op?

        • Please don't buy from co-op. I've got $150 of free gift vouchers I've won for there and I haven't spent a cent yet. Every time I walk in, I walk right out after seeing the prices.

The main retailers you'd be going for would be:
          http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/
          http://www.bookdepository.com/
          fishpond, amazon, abebooks etc.

You're doing it wrong if it costs only 10% less. Usually it's 60% at least. Even if you can't find it on the net, go to qubooks if you're in Brisbane http://www.qubooks.com.au/. They are always cheaper than members at co-op and I go there if it's not available anywhere else….but that's a last stop. Care to share your titles so I can assist you? ISBN is helpful, or name, author, edition

        • Well i've looked at book depository, booko etc and i can't find anything less than $5 of what co-op shop costs me.

Maybe it's just the books of my faculty.

May i offer to take those vouchers of your hands? ;)

        • Thanks for the offer, here are the ones i need:

          9780455230054

when I buy my books I tap in the ISBN to the internet an see what comes up.

I source 90% my uni books through abebooks.com, alibris or ebay.

abebooks has been pretty good for me. last semester my textbook was $126 in the uni-book shop. through abebooks with a 10% off coupon I got it for $46.

    stoked with that.

I always ask my lecturers if the previous edition is usable. that can save a bucket of $$$ if it is.

alibris has a 10% off offer. enter voucher cool for $3 off $30 orders, hand for $6 off $60 orders, luke for $10 of $100 orders - expires tomorrow.

  • Through all the negativity, managed to pick up one of my texts for $84.95 just now through these guys (Unidbooks), compared to the cheapest on Booko @ $115.95 and the Uni Bookshop @ $129.95. Cheers for the heads up on the sale.

  • this site is quite useless for medical texts

booko.com.au is by far the better option for comparing savings
