Can I get this applied to my existing account? Or is it already applied?

    • +2

All existing Annual Silver Rewards Members are automatically upgraded to the Lifetime status.

How can I see what my existing account member level is? I can't find it stated anywhere when I log in.

    • Hi Bloomer,

Our team is working on that feature now and it will probably be available in a few weeks. Until then, you can email Member Services and they can assist you with what status you are. Also, you can enroll in the Lifetime Offer now and upgrade or downgrade at any time, but you will never be downgraded if you're currently in a paid upgrade subscription like the Gold, Platinum, or Airport Lounge.

Compared an upcoming trip and Club 1 is more expensive.

5 days Mantra 2 Bond st Sydney. Executive studio. Same details for both.
Club 1 USD913 approx $1182. Expedia $1092 and can cancel 2 days later than club 1.

Expedia cashbacks are CR 4.9% & SB 6%, similar to Club 1 5% (gold member). And Expedia has some reward point too.

This is just my one recent example. YMMV

Same outcome when I tested a trip to Noosa earlier this year. Not that many options were on club 1 anyway.

I have had an account with these guys for a long time.

Never used it since the pricing has always been either the same or more in my experience.

Wholesale rates arn't available to the public due to the contract you have with the hotel, by wholesale here they just mean that there is no agent involved - much like any OTA.

I work with wholesale rates, there is and NDA on rates - so have to package up the rate with other products and cannot provide a breakdown.

Probably get around any Australian regulation by just selling out of the US.

      • Hi Umicro, you are correct. Our wholesale rates are not available to the public, whereas most OTA's offer commissionable rates.

        • +1

          Not a deal IMO then

        • Our wholesale rates are not available to the public

Access Wholesale Rates at over 1.5 Million Hotels and Car Rentals that are not available to the public

So that's misrepresentation. Cause your offering to give access to the public.

          • -1

@Umicro: Our membership is available to the public, but our rates are not available to the general public and the general public cannot book our rates.

Once they register they are considered a "member" and can access our rates only after they log in with their password. Similar to Costco or Sams Club.

            • @club1hotels: Member rates are never wholesale rates. You may get away with this definition as a US operator, but you will get done here in Australia advertising that.

      Hi PCHammond,

Yes, the deals can vary and are influenced by a lot of variables including last-min booking or not, refundable or non-refundable bookings, domestic or international travel, etc. But keep an eye out for our weekly member's emails where we offer flash sales and promo codes for additional savings. For example, for the next 48-hours current members can get an extra 10% more on all prepaid eGift Cards, to use towards future bookings.

      • I do (did) alot of travel. Both last minute and planned a long time ahead.

I am a typical ozbargainer, and I do my research. I check numerous sites, including club1hotels, and book the cheapest. I have never once booked through club1hotels, nor have I ever used them as a reference point.

I usually find the cheapest price through an online site, and then call the hotel to match. Alot of the time, booking directly is the cheapest anyway, and my "usual" hotels are all booked directly.

Given the inability for a sizeable amount of the Australian population to take a holiday any time soon, I doubt anybody would want to take up a gift card. Especially when everybody knows that the travel industry is suffering at the moment, so there is no guarantee that the gift card would even be usable once we are able to travel again. Many people have been burned with gift cards.

And when it comes to wholesale pricing, I do know that there is "wholesale" and there are specific deals for different agents. I can see on my work booking portal that the agent we use gets better rates than the wholesale rates for different chains.

For reference, I have top tier status with 3 different major hotel chains, and that's without status matching.

To be fair, I never trust one site as being always cheaper compare to the other
and will treat the same for Club 1 Hotels

So for this free membership I am almost welcome
no harm to just do one extra search when booking for accomodations
compare the price and make a decision

    • How is this different to the last deal you posted that is apparently still active? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/620563

      This just reeks of spam.

      • Hi PainToad,

Thanks, we just noticed this too and we merged and updated the offer. 👍‍‍

The last offer had a $ giveaway that expired.

    • It's smart to always search around to find the best deal, and hopefully, Club 1 Hotels can be a useful tool in your seach. 👍‍‍

    • Title breaks the law - false advertising

      • Can you elaborate?

        • No longer a problem since thread fixed.

  • Just re-adding my neg after it was removed with the merge.
