I bought one from Harvey Norman 1 year ago, it was cmr but it was obviously old stock from good old batch, almost the the time bought one from Officeworks and it was smr, r/w performance was terrible, ended up sold it on eBay, I guess it’s only good for storage only. And I believe every new stock is smr now, sad.
Cool story bro.
bought one two months ago. SMR.
Did the box look different?
Was CHEAPER a month ago, but still a good deal
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/611194using 2 hdds from this and still works fine. I only use it for storage hdd.
For storage? As opposed to what?
like I do not install Games or OS on this. Only using it for files like data storage.
I use NVME for Game and OS.Running his linux iso distro server
Don't know why you got negged. Seagate_au is not a reputable seller?
Who knows why the neg some sad cases on this site, it’s seagates eBay store so nothing wrong with the seller
Yep - there are some very sad cases on this site.
Also some very decent people.@Weshouldgetsushi: There are good people on this site, and there are bad people on this site. But there are also people who are neither good nor bad.
@Weshouldgetsushi: It's random. Mobile users accidentally hit the neg button when scrolling down.
@outlander: Mobile requires pressing twice, the … and then the -
@Weshouldgetsushi: But mostly very sad.
Bought here
Bought it even though I have no need for it.
Regret later…..That's the spirit.
Time to plot some chia?
you have to buy 10 of this to last a week lol
Fortunately I have a serious amount of HDDs available, but not an expensive way of adding more to the pool.
4TB isn't really dense enough unfortunately.
Is it SMR?
Yes
Good deal for Chia Mining
These drives are slow a.f. If you are using them purely for storage all good, but don't do anything realtime/interactive with them. Price per t/b is good though.
Bought this from the seagate ebay store yesterday. Arrived today. Cracked it open and now it's inside my PC.
Is there any difficulty with the shucking process? Like does it cause any permanent damage to the case and could I put an existing 1TB hard drive into it instead and swap the 4TB into my PC?
Not enough for chia mining
Some info on Chia if anyone wants to know.
got one thanks
whats the difference between this and a normal external hard drive ?
Main differences are that it's a bog-standard SATA HDD in an enclosure (which in this case you can remove and install inside your case) and that requires a separate power-brick.
Received mine!
Good price but SMR drive from previous deals
