Perfectly good for 90% of people.

      • I logically agree with you, but I also totally get where that dude is coming from. I know 1080p is perfectly good, but man I don't think I could ever go back to 1080p after a 1440p Ultrawide. 1440p would be minimum haha.

  • +7

    Why did I buy this?

  • +1

can't find many reviews, is this similar to the VG240YP?

i just spent $280 on an Acer Predator XB253QGP, it's better than this one but still
might have to get this a 2nd monitor, they both look similar so will look nice together

    • +3

      Pretty similar.

The VG240YP has a 144Hz Refresh Rate compared to the 165Hz on the VG242YP, and I'm fairly certain that the VG240 isn't HDR400, but almost everything else is the same. The stand is red as opposed to black, but aesthetically there isn't much else that's different.

    • The 240 had a Panda panel, as per the original AOC 24G2, just poorer tuning.

This is likely to have a BOE panel, probably the same as the revision of the AOC 24G2, again but with likely poorer tuning.

You can get a rough idea of the differences here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdmE3NcyAgM

  • +2

Pretty great specs for the price. Too bad I'm broke…

  • +28

Mods please delete this before I accidentally buy one

  • Anyone able to find a review of the 24 inch version? Doesn't seem to be too much in the way of impressions for it online.

  • +1

Should I buy 2 of the 27" or a 34" ultra wide for work ? Not gonna game just normal office stuff

    • +6

      34 ultra wide

    • +2

      3x 24"!

      • +1

Desk not big enough for 3 that's why thinking 1 X 34 ultra wide will have smaller footprint but max screen size

        1stworldproblems

        • time to buy a new desk, too

          • +3

@shabaka: Can't fit a bigger desk in my room.
Buy a bigger property? Not in current Sydney markets! Lol

    • +3

2x27". I have a 34" ultra wide and personally I think dual screens is better for work.

      • Agree.

2x27" is more productive as 34" UW is not wide enough. You lose a lot of real estate.

I've gone to 38" UW and that works better than 34" UW. I prefer the 38" but my second preference would be 2x27".

  • +1

    Great price, bought one!

  • Bruh I bought my Aoc 24’ monitor for the same price w latitude pay and I regret now cuz it’s 75hz :;(((

    • time to get this one and do a double monitor set up

      • *triple ahaha I got my aoc 155 27’ 1440 one which cost 430 $$$
Crazy how monitors have become so cheap literally a couple of months after I buy mine ;((((

        • I bought AOC24G2 144hz for $310 and after a month there was a deal for 240 or sth

          • @OnlineShopper123: Yeah makes me think it’s never a good idea to buy smth for full price when ozbargain exists aha

  • I am having problem registering new account on your site.
It keeps giving error message "Field cannot empty" on the password section, but I already filled it.

    • +1

all good now, tried with incognito mode.

      • Was about to say to PM if you still needed a hand, but good stuff that you got through it! A fair few new accounts going through today :P

  • Any deals on mobos? :)

    • +1

Not as yet, but keep an eye on the site! We're always working on deals with whatever we can get our hands on.

  • +2

I didn’t need this, still got it though.. :|

  • +4

The Acer VG271US 27inch looks like a decent buy if you want to step up to 165Hz and 1440p display https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/monitors/25plus-inch/847…

    • I was literally about to comment this

    • Also a very good step up if anyone is keen to up their resolution for a heavily reduced price! Good find.

      • For someone on a budget - is the $80 price difference THAT noticeable compared to the 27" monitor in the OP?

        • +3

The jump from 1080p to 1440p is actually quite noticeable; certainly more so than the jump from 1440 to 4K.

For 90% of people, Full HD is totally okay and perfectly fine, especially with specs like this, but for a lot of people who want higher resolutions in games or better resolutions for work like Photoshop, CAD, etc, then the extra $80 is well worth it.

        • +1

Yes it is, especially at 27' and above. Once you go 1440p it's hard to go back. Be mindful of what graphics card you use if a gamer. 1440p pushes more pixels so your FPS will drop compared to 1080p res

      • Hi Scorptec,

Do you know if this VG271US monitor supports 120Hz at 1440p and also 120Hz at 1080p? I have had a good flick through google but no luck on finding list of frequency support for this monitor :(

        • Heya, if it supports anything above what you need, then it will support exactly those specs.

For example, this one maxes out at 1440p at 165Hz, so it'll do any other lower Hz or lower Res no problem :)

          • @Scorptec: Oops.. I should have added I will be using the monitor for Xbox Series X, so I think it the monitor has to specifically support 120Hz?

            • +3

@ilovvebargains: Ooof. PC Master Race here.

I'll do some digging and check it out.

      • Hi I’ve been using XB271hu for years and I’m very satisfied with it. Could you suggest how VG271US compares with it? Considering to get one for wfh. Thanks. Just googled a bit but can’t find much information.

        • +1

Well if you're using G-Sync then you'd want to steer clear of the VG271US; it does utilise AMD FreeSync but as yet isn't G-Sync compatible.

That said, the VG does have a slightly better response time (1ms v 4ms) and HDR400.

The XB271HU also has a much more versatile stand in that it can rotate 90 degrees, whilst the VG is fixed.

          That's about it, really!

          • @Scorptec: Have to admit that I kept Gsync closed since I bought it… to achieve the best fps performance.

And since this one would be a secondary monitor so I don’t really care about the stand.

Any major difference regarding picture quality? Thanks.

          • @Scorptec: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/acer/nitro-vg271up-pb…

this monitor review site says they've tested it and that it is unofficially g sync compatible. albeit, it appears to be a near-identical model, which the scorotec deal appears to supersede

            • @RedTaco: I guess up model is different from us model?

      • Are you able to discount your Amazon price for this monitor?

      • Is this monitor sold out? Site says it's in stock for delivery but add to cart button is grayed out.

        • Website glitch I'm afraid.

We've released 50 more units of the 27" 165 1080p monitor, but the 24" is all sold out I'm afraid!

    • +1
      • thanks cancelled and reordered through ebay

  • free shipping but compulsory parcel protection, is that right?

    • +1

The default option has the parcel protection included, but you can certainly remove it!

    • +1

      nevernind, found it :s

    • +2

ordered a Acer Nitro VG271UP after what feels like years of waiting for a 27" 1440p 144hz (or higher) monitor to hit sub $300, thanks

  • When the heck did monitors get so cheap?

    • +1

When we decided to make them so cheap. :)

      • +2

Is it possible to do that to 3070/3080's :)

        • +2

          I wish. :(

  • +1

    Thanks OP, purchased 1!

  • +2

To help OP, Scorptec is also running Monitor Clearance atm.

    https://www.scorptec.com.au/monitorclearance

    • Beat me to it. Damn this site is quick.

  • +2

Odd that it comes with both a HDMI and DisplayPort cable when it says the connectors is only 1x DisplayPort? Thank you, Acer??

    Great price.

    • Good pick up, looks like the content Acer gave me was…. Wrong.

I've updated the listing now by adding 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, which should be live in the next 5 minutes.

  • +1

    Awesome deal OP!

  • hmmmm now I need to work out if I need another 27" to go with my 27GL850 and replace my garbage 27" 1080p BenQ

  • Damn, just brought 2x VG252QP on the 23rd from you guys for $229 each..

    Good Price

  • How can one contact you guys? No number, no email address. Says 'Temporarily Suspended'…shall i write a letter? I'm trying to cancel an order, i was a little too quick and have wrong specs for my needs.

    • +1

Hey mate, just PM me your order number on here and I'll take care of it for you!

    • +1

Telegram or Morse code I believe are the best options.

      • +3

        We also accept smoke signal.

There is actually a "Correspondance" option on the order within the account screen which goes straight to us, which is the best option.

  • +1

Almost pulled the trigger on a BenQ EX2510 ($349), and this sale just popped up… Now I ordered the Acer XB253QGP for $279, can't wait to pick it up! Cheers OP!

    • You are most welcome :)

  • Difference between ED270RP and VG272LV?

    • +1

      A few!

      • The VG272LV has a 1ms response time as opposed to the 5ms of the ED270RP
      • The ED is curved, the VG is not
      • The ED has a 250nit brightness display, the VG is 400
      • The obvious aesthetic differences

Those are the main points :)

      • Thank you for your prompt response!
I've checked other sources and realised that ED has VA panel whereas VG has IPS, which makes difference in colour production.

        • HA! Missed the most obvious one. That too

          • @Scorptec: One more question: is it possible to pick up directly from the store?

  • In the description of the 24" it states 350nits while in the specs it's 250nit. Can someone confirm which is correct?

Also no mention of G-sync in the specs, it is compatible?

    • 350! Sorry about that, fixed on the site now. Good old Acer.

It's AMD FreeSync Premium, which also means that it is G-Sync compatible. I'm not sure why Acer don't mention it in their specs, but they do mention it on their site!

  • +1

Thanks OP! Just placed an order for 2 x VG242YP. These will replace my 10 year old monitors..

  • What's the dead pixel policy on the 24 inch?

    • Very good question! I'll check with our after-sales team now and get back to you shortly.

      • +1

Okay, so from the after-sales team:

If it's straight out of the box with a dead pixel, we'll replace it no problem. If it develops a dead pixel after a week or two (very rare), then just let us know by shooting us an email to [email protected] and we can assess it on a case-by-case basis!

        Hope that helps!

        • How about stuck pixels? Same deal?

          • +1

            @nope: Same deal!

  • +2

I love this community. So helpful for someone like me who is new to gaming on PC. Great deal OP.

  • +4

Thanks for all the questions and love on this one team; I'm logging off for tonight but will be back tomorrow at 9.30am AEST to answer any questions you may have :)

    • Noooooooo. I saw this comment and assumed the deal would be running until the morning and missed out on the $149 VG242YP :(

  • +1

    Thanks op! I copped one.

  • +1

Do I need it? No, not really.
Am I getting it? Yeah you know it lmao
Really hope it's a good monitor (if anyone knows if it's good/bad, please lmk haha)

  • +1

    Bought one. Great deal.

  • +2

See $279 for Acer VG242YP. Is the deal over?

    • Looks like we were OzB'd with the 24", yep :(

      Sorry!

  • +1

It seems like the VG242YP deal is over now.

  • +1

Damn was just about to get the VG242YP, but looks like the deal is over :(

  • Is the stand bulky the triangle shape looks to consume a lot of desk space

  • Alright team, looks as though we had a busy night.

We're releasing 50 more units of the VG272LV, but the 24" VG242YP is officially sold out, as is the higher-end 1440p Acer.

Get in quick if you're keen!
