OVERVIEW
The Renogy Wanderer-Li is a 30A PWM solar charge controller that integrates efficient PWM charging to increase battery life and improve system performance. Designed with a simple interface for ease of use, the controller uses multiple LED indicators to notify users of charge status and battery information. This newly improved model has two advanced features: a RS232 port and Lithium battery charging.

With the addition of the RS232 port, users can now connect and communicate with the Renogy BT-1 Bluetooth module. By adding the BT-1 to the Wanderer-Li, you can now use the smartphone app, Renogy DC HOME, to monitor and adjust your solar system remotely.

With the inclusion of the Lithium Battery Mode, the 30A negative-ground controller is now capable of charging various 12V battery types and banks, including most 12V lithium models available on the market.

    Good deal for a 30A with minimal features. I've got a few in the ebay cart for around the property. Too many systems using 24v here though; so that's a limitation; mppt vs pwm isn't a concern for me.

    The BT-1 modules; what are the prices? I am unlikely to use them and probably just reverse engineer what you are sending over the RS232 and use phone lines to run back to the home assistant; but curious all the same.

      Depends on the use case. Are the generic controllers mppt based? The generic controllers are usually limited to 10A, these are 30A.

      These are missing some of the features the generic ones have like
      - lcd to show voltage, battery condition etc
      - usb ports (built in 12v to 5v stepdowns) - they almost all have usb on the front
      - pwm vs mppt

      There is a big brother to this which has the LCD, but a bit more expensive, neither have usb outlets from what I can see.

      Biggest difference is the Lithium profile which is a big plus.
      Unlikely you’ll pump 30A through the small and very fiddly connectors.

      Bigger property in my instance, security cameras, flood lights, ring videos, automated gates (the smaller ones; 2 are 24v), feeders for irrigation solenoids etc.
