Castrol EDGE Engine Oil 5W-30 LL 5 Litre C3 (Compatible with Diesel DPF) $56.70 + $9.90 Delivery or Free Pickup @ Repco

120

This seems to be one of the cheapest prices currently for 5L of Castrol Edge LL 5W-30 at $56.70 from $80.99. It is 30% off the original price.

Not like A3 version of this oil, the LongLife (LL) version rarly has discount, like seem from last year. I have not seen it cheaper anywhere else currently. Autobarn has it for $64.99.

This oil is mainly originally used for German made Diesel car with DPF, e.g. Audiļ¼Œ BMW & etc.. It is approved by vehicle manufacturers/graded as follows:
ACEA C3
Mercedes-Benz MB-Approval 229.31 / 229.51
Porsche C30
Volkswagen Auto Group (VAG) VW 504 00 / 507 00

Annoying how expensive this stuff is. My Skoda is chewing through the oil at the moment too. Unknown why.

    Cheers

    • What oil are you using? And how many Kms on the car

      • The above oil. Done just over 100k. No visible leaks. Water looks clean. Exhaust looks good. Must be burning up inside the engine somewhere.

        • Just like my Subaru Forester

@Lancerx: Right then. Crossing that vehicle off my Gumtree search list.

        • I'd be trying another oil, like Liquimoly or Nylon just to see if it makes a difference, Castrol has been deteriorating in quality the last few years

          • @yaozy: What? Do you do an analysis of the oil properties in every bottle you buy?

    • Which engine out of interest?

    • Probably have a first gen EA888 I'm guessing which would be the reason. Pretty unreliable engine and excessive oil burn is common.

    • Is it the VW 2L turbo engine? I had this problem and VW say up to 1 Litre per 1000km is acceptable and would not even look at the engine! So that is 15L of very expensive between services, bloody ridiculous. Luckily the Tiguan got written off and has saved me money every day since then!

Not the cheapest (I paid $45 last time, but I'll grab a bottle to add onto my stash for future oil changes.

    Thanks OP.
