  • any for event cinemas?

  • Beat me to it…three :-)

  • Popular site atm..

ed: Five times now "Sorry, we are currently experiencing high load and are unable to process your request. Please wait a minute and try again." On final page of confirmation, but alas, won't finish. I'll give it one more shot…

    • And now the fun starts…

"There was a problem closing your booking. Please wait 60 minutes to receive your email confirmation with the PDF of your tickets. If you do not receive your email confirmation after waiting 60 minutes please contact the MyFun Sales Team on 13 33 86 or +61 7 5519 6200 from outside Australia during normal business hours."

Same here. This is traditionally the slowest season of the year, hence the sale to get people through the door. So why the big rush? It's not like they will sell out.

        • Useful… Rang the number. None of the 'press 1/2/3 etc' options relate to Village tickets.. Hnn… Great stuff.

ed: proper number is 1300 555 400. Seems to be quite a que of failed ticket purchases atm, though, so might pay to wait a bit.

ed2: 'the big rush' is probably just people eager to not miss out. In my case, i was at the computer, had my wallet and happened to need some tickets for that time period so why not get them now rather than wait and risk deal being taken down? It's easy to know, after the fact, that waiting for a bit was the sensible option. As for trying multiple times, there it was simply a case of saving myself hassle by clicking 'try again after 1 minute', as per screens recommendation, instead of having to re-enter all the information again later.

        • And one last post. Dude on phone said deal has basically been taken down for the moment (haven't tried again to know if this is true). Anyone who received message above didn't actually book or get charged and should try again later.

      • snp,

For some reason, I can't reply to your replies.

Thanks for taking the time to post your experience. Saved me a phone call. My comment wasn't meant to be directed at you personally but at everyone in general. Sorry if it came across that way.

Woo Hoo. Just got through. :)

        • No, that's fine. I didn't think it was, but just thought i'd better clarify my situation in case anyone did think i was madly at the computer impatiently hammering my details in multiple times cursing the universe:)

ed: Good stuff. Might have another go in a minute myself then.
ed2: Cool. Got some myself. Site seems to be flowing again.

  • Lock in for The Hunger Games 22 Mar 2012. :)
    John Carter 8 Mar

Missed The Avengers by almost a month. :(

  • can you only use these tickets for onling booking?

can you they be redeem at the box office?

    • +11

It is to be surrendered at the cinema box office for a ticket or redeemed online (a $1 booking fee per ticket applies for all online bookings).

Considering that we do all the work when doing online booking, why are they charging us more?

  • Hopefully event follows suit like they did last year.

  • Sounds good.
    No mention of weekend restrictions?

Remind me what a movie ticket costs these days.
    I am a student.

How much saving is 7.50? vs cheap tue etc.

    • Tuesday is around $10.50

  • Any restriction about Saturday after 5 pm?

    • No

  • Not valid for public holidays or on 14 February 2012.

    ?

    Not even Sat+Sun then?

    • +5

public holidays are not the same as weekends.

      • Thx. Bought 8.

  • Decent deal… but question is what movies to see??

    • My list:
-Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (look up the cast, start salivating)
      -Shame (stars Fassbender, nekkid)
-50/50 (out on blu-ray, but I'd still pay to sob in the cinema. repeatedly.)

      -This means war (rom-com…)

I am in NSW and bought 6. Crap !!!
Anyone in Victoria wants them on a discounted price ??

    • +1

I'll update the post to make it more obvious which cinemas this applies to.

    • $40 for 6 tickets. Anyone ?

      • +1

I'd give 1300 555 400 a call and ask if you can get them refunded. They more than likely will. At least worth a try before accepting less for them..

        • Thanks for the idea. Was #28 in queue, 10 mins later #27 ….

        • Lol. I was 19th in que when i rang. Though my wait was only maybe 5-10 minutes..

      • i'm also interested in 2 if you cant get refund

      • I'm after 4 tickets. I see that wiltonson is after 2. If you can't get a refund, together we'll solve your dilemma! Contact me if you would like to go ahead :)

    • I'll take 2 if mine didn't go through properly. :)

EDIT: just bought two. So don't need any more.

    • This is Ozbargaining at its best - buying something on a good bargain even though you can not make use of the bargain

  • not much good movies at the moment. what's good movies during Feb and March?

    • At the moment I'd go for Hugo, TinTin, The Muppets and maybe The Iron Lady, The Decendents or Tinker Tailor for more serious options. There seem to be some OK movies, just not the blockbusters.

      • Tinker Tailor… forgot about that one. Looks good. Hopefully it's still playing in useful sessions in a week and a half…

    • The Vow- the perfect Valentine's day movie, comes out Feb. 10th.

  • +2

I've just printed my 4 tickets and they're in the glove box of my car ready to use. Yay!

  • Thanks - it didn't appear to charge me the $1/ticket surcharge for booking online (but how else were you supposed to purchase?)
    Bummer!

    • I think that fee relates to when you use the tickets you just bought, to book a movie session online.
As for me, I'll just bring the printouts to exchange at the box office

  • wrong response

  • very cheap tix! cheapest i can get is $10.50 tix from uni for being a student. Bought 4 of these! :)

  • Bought 7 :D

  • Thought you might want to know this: I called them up today and asked if it's OK to have them scan the vouchers on my phone (instead of printing the PDF out and carry the paper around) and the answer was no, the vouchers need to be printed out.

Who got caught out by Village Cinemas Advert??

The not so clear advertising about the selected cinemas/State locations? At the moment I am talking to consumer affairs regarding a refund.

Village Cinemas is refusing to refund!!

Does anyone remember if the page had the t&c on it when they purchased the tickets?

Also do people agree that the STATE should have been written more clearly on the site.

I think Village Cinemas sticks for not refunding for giving at least credits for the tickets.. come on.. I am not going to one of their cinemas again.. If anyone would like the 4 tickets I purchased and can attent the cinemas please let me know I will sell them to you at a discount.

Alternatively if anyone is in the same boat and would like to take legal action against village cinemas please let me know.. power in numbers people!!

    Sicerely,
    Aussie Picker

    • Proof Read version there is no edit option on ozbargaqins site:

      • The first page I linked to had the T&C on them.
If you were navigating the village website, it shows:

        https://shop.villagecinemas.com.au/E-Vouchers.aspx
E-vouchers are valid for redemption at Village Cinemas locations in Victoria and Tasmania only.

You also had to acknowledge that you agree to the T&C when purchasing.

Granted, it would be nice if they made it a bit more obvious that these are only valid in VIC and TAS.

        • Read also the small print on the main page of the deal:
"This offer is valid at the following Village Cinemas Locations – Airport West, Century City, Coburg, Crown, Doncaster, Fountain Gate, Geelong, Jam Factory, Karingal, Knox, Morwell, Rivoli, Southland, Shepparton, Sunshine, Werribee, Eastlands, Glenorchy, Hobart and Launceston."

Is the cinema you were planning to go to one of the above? If it wasn't then you shouldn't have assumed it was state wide.

They were even more specific about location than just which states, they specified the suburb or cinema name!

    • +1

If they won't refund you, just get your bank to reverse the transaction.

      • If the company has enough proof to show that you were the one who brought the tickets, then even doing a chargeback on credit card won't go through.

  • Not sure why this deal is marked as expired. I've just purchased 4 tickets successfully. Cheers OP!

  • anyone still got tickets they wanna sell? im willing to buy..
