  • What are people's experiences with this phone?

    • Don't buy if you are on the Optus network. Check out the thread in the forum for the Poco F2

      • Why exactly? This is the F3 not the F2. Kimovil.com shows mobile compatibility seems to be fine except for 5G (under n258 and n40)

        • Kimovil also says the same thing for Poco F2. The poco F2 (and a number of Xiaomi phones) can't send mms on the Optus network for some reason and it's a well known issue with Xiaomi phones.

          • @Iost: MMS seems fixed after latest update - mentioned in your link above.

            • @deltakilo: It wasnt. One poster mentions it was but if you keep reading no one else saw a change after the last update

              • @Iost: And yet, the last comment there dated 19th Apr:

I rebooted the handset since i missed that and Yes MMS send/receive works now Woohooo!!!!

I'm not currently in the hunt for a new mobile but probably will be before years end and as a devotee of IR blasters, Xiaomi seems to be only only player left worth considering. By then hopefully Optus & MMS issue will be definitely be ironed out.

                • +1

@deltakilo: That was for someone who switched to Aldi (Telstra network). The issue is only with the Optus network for some reason.

I agree, it ticks all the right buttons except if you're on the Optus network 😀

                  • @Iost: Right, got it now. At this stage it seems to be an issue with any 2020+ release Global/China Xiaomi models but not those with 'official' Aussie release?

    • This is international version RedMi K40.

I'm never calling a product description anything else ever again…

    Batteries Required Yes

    Good to know.

  • Would be good to see a competitive deal from Amazon on the Poco X3

  • Any good deals on note 10 pro?

  • +1

Love the size option on Amazon. 128gb or Large…….. wtf?

  • Accurate review? https://www.androidauthority.com/poco-f3-review-1211404/

Looking to spend about $600 on a new phone and would like NFC and a decent camera. Thoughts?

No microsd expansion, no 3.5mm jack, small battery kills it for me. I don't know how this cam be top of the range when they can't even supply these essentials.

    • +1

3.5mm is not essential any more. It's luxury now . go get a Sony xperia 1 iii with everything u want at 1300 us dollars

      • No it's not. Some of us have invested in really good headphones with lines. These are not going away as they are still superior to Bluetooth headphones.

        • Technically superior but for most people, the audio quality has caught up and surpassed wired headphones.

UFS storage is faster than microsd cards by a long shot - hence it's removed.

Really people would wish stop making these points. If you want those things, get a phone with those things. Not a big deal for most people, hence phasing them out.

          • @adrianhughes1998: Unless I've misread it, this phone has 256gb of memory and that's it. It's ok for a start, not good enough after a while. The microSD is for storage, speed is secondary to capacity here. This is a phone with 256gb with no capacity for expansion. That's not ok for a lot of people I would imagine. A couple vids, music albums, games etc and you're done.

            • @clubhonda: 128gb suited me fine for my music collection of like 100 albums a few movies etc.

Not sure what planet you're on here or if you're downloading FLAC offline albums, 4k rips of movies etc.

For most people it's plenty of storage. 64gb pushing it but 128gb is fine. We are at that stage now.

              • @adrianhughes1998: If you think 128gb is fine, my HDDs are over 100TBs now and I still run out of space. But it's the same with credit card limits etc, some can live on a $2k limit just fine, some need $20k or even $200k as a minimum.

4500mah would not be considered a small battery by most…

Only recently have flagships gone to 5000mah

      • It's ok for middle range phones, not so on what is billed as POCO's most powerful device. I would expect a top end phone to have higher capacity than that.

    • So what phone are you using? And what phone in the market currently would you consider?

  • OOS

  • Basically pay Ali price + GST, I don't believe Ali pay it to ATO so it's fair.
