  • Thanks OP. Grabbed one for our Dyson

  • thanks OP.

  • +25

Is it actually any use? Pretty much need a dog?

The people in our house with long hair aren't exactly clogging the vacuum.. just the drainpipes :p

    • +1

      I feel your pain…

    • +10

Same… no dog/cat, but a wife and daughter who I don't know how they are not both bald based on the amount of their hair I have to vacuum up…

  • +6

Can I use this on V6 or V10?

    • +1

      Compatible with:
      Dyson uprights
      Dyson cylinders

      So, no, I'd say

    • Fits all Dyson models from DC19 onwards except DC24 and cordless models.

      So no.

    • +7

      Yes!

I have the V6 and DC 59, and The tool is compatible with both.

      • +1

Curious how it works with the V6, they have different heads no?

Do you possibly have this one instead?
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dyson-969275-01-Barrel-Tangl…

        • No, I bought the exact same head linked in the OP from the same store (but at $39).

      • There is a comment on the webpage from someone that says it doesnt fit their V7

        • That's because the V7 (and newer) uses the new connectors, hence its clearance status.

      • -1

I thoughy mine is dc59 but its an old dc45…

    • +1

Officially the Dyson page says it only fits the corded Dyson vacuums (upright and big ball) but:
      - Connection point is the same as the cordless models (DCxx series and V6)
      - It's powered by air suction

So in theory, if it connects physically it'll work. An Amazon reviewer says this works on their DC16, which is a pretty old model, so suction power on the cordless should be OK to power this head too?

    • The tangle free turbine tool won't fit on a cordless model but it will fit on a corded. The attachment clip is different from the newer corded units but those vacuums come with adapters for older attachments so it should be fine.
The mattress tool is interesting because based off the the model number, it seems to only fit corded units but the image used is that of the cordless version.

  • 2 left via ebay so probably gone by now.

    • bought one from ebay with free shipping still has 2 left

  • +2

If they made these on a bigger head I’d be sold

  • Looking at the purchase history is a sign of OzB power. I didn't know this many people had regular Dysons, not the handhelds.

    • This head fits the handhelds, as I own the V6 and DC 59.

      • +1

As you said only the V6, but any of the newer ones it doesnt fit.

    • Went looking for a model number on my regular one to see if it was compatible - it's only a DC08. Some of us are way behind the times.

      • DC08's last forever

Used this for a few weeks, here's my take.

The head is not motorised and is instead powered by the vacuum itself (it has no electrical pins). Because of that, it won't spin on carpet at all but works fine on timber, tiles, etc. Little caveat is that the V6 I use is old and battery still working, albeit aged. Given how most V6 (and older) users have owned theirs for years, my point still stands.

It's not perfect however as some hair do get caught on the bristles, though they're very easy to remove compared to the regular motorhead.

Despite this, $29 is a reasonable price, given the pricey nature of Dyson attachments as a whole.

    • Ha! I wish I'd read your post before I ordered , Silverrat. I have V6 Cord-free and have had the battery issues but bought a spare which has fixed things. Its interesting what you said about not being motorised. I think if I'd seen that I would not have ordered. Anyway, there's plenty of hard floors here and long hair. See what happens…

      • How do you fix V6 battery issue? Ours works for two minutes then cuts out. Put back on charging dock for around five minutes and it works properly after that.

        • +1

buy a new battery and install. You could get an OEM battery

          • +1

@suntagonal: Agree. In hindsight this is what I should have done in the first place, but they are costly. I paid twice!

        • +3

The cutting out could be the filter in the top being clogged. Thought it was a battery issue on mine, turned out to be that filter. Washed it in the sink and left to dry worked perfectly since, also have a V6

        • I had to buy a new one. I bought a non genuine on ebay and it has not been very good. It was doing weird things like what you have mentioned, but not coming back on…I had to buy a Dyson battery unfortunately.

          • +1

@Scott-M: Thanks all. Will look for an OEM battery. And try filter clean first!

  • +1

Would this work on long pile carpet and avoid tangling in the carpet strands?

  • +1

The tangle-free attachment would be far more useful if it was full width. Can't imagine ever using this over the normal rotating head due to it taking 10x longer to vacuum than cut through a few tangled hairs.

  • It looks like the Mini Tangle Free Turbine Tool will fit the older DC59, but the Mattress Tool attachment has a different (newer) connection. Just something to be aware of.

    • +1

mattress tool does NOT have the newer connection, see my comment below

  • +5

Careful, the mattress tool is showing the wrong image. The one being sold is the Dyson 908940-08, which only fits some non-cordless vacs.

The image with the red locking tab is the 967763-01, which is NOT what is on sale for $15

    On offer:

    • should have read this before placing the order. will see if can fit V8

    • Wish I saw this before ordering… Received the old one and it doesn't fit my vacuum. Just initiated the returns process.

      • +1

I got the old one too, apparently they used the wrong photo and it is now fixed. Luckily for me I live pretty close to a TGG store so went in showed them the photo and they swapped it for me for free (waived the difference)

        • Might try that! Was planning to just return it to my local store but I'll give that a shot this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

  • FYI if you have the older cordless vacs that fit this, it still won't do an effective job it's designed to compared to on a corded Dyson. Like @silverrat23 said, it runs on suction, so the optimal speed it needs to do its job can only be achieved by the corded Dysons.

  • Sorry if it's an obvious question, but which Dyson models are compatible with either of the tools posted in the deal?
    I have Dyson V6 Slim

    • Neither of them, unfortunately.

    • This will work on the V6. Not sure about the slim, but if the attachments are the same as the normal V6, it should be fine.

    • The tangle-free tool fits the V6 and all its variants. The other doesn't.

    • Whoever neg me, please read my comment above, but I will paste it here again. I am a former Dyson Rep

      • So just to confirm: both tools will work on the V6 right?
The Mattress tool (908940-08) and the Tangle free tool (925067-01) seem to have the same connector type, and some of the OzBargainers said the tangle free tool work for V6 so I'd assume the Mattress tool would work too?

        • +2

The mattress tool as long as it has the same connector end will fit on your V6. The tangle-free can technically fit but it will not be able to spin fast enough to do the job it was designed for. The tangle free tool was designed for the corded vacuums only

      • +1

        I gave you a + instead :)

      • It does gather up the hairs on the brushes - just doesnt suck them all into the canister. Still seems to work ok on the Cordless ( My order just arrived )

  • Is this compatible with a Dyson V7 Motorhead Origin?

  • Trying to add to cart or something wrong with the site?

Can anyone actually order this, the website might be glitchy or good guys have changed it as price error

    • Ordered on eBay

  • Does anyone know the difference between the one above and https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/dyson-mattress-cordfree-tool-…

  • +1

    "Mattress tool"

  • +2

Got both for my good old DC29 and the mountains of fur my dog leaves everywhere. Next step is to teach her to vacuum.

  • So just to confirm: both tools will work on the V6 right?

  • Literally just bought some gift cards to buy this and it's how sold out. Damn

  • The turbine tool is still available at Harvey Norman for 49

  • OOS

  • Need something like this for the Xiaomi Hoovers.
