13.3 and QHD - wouldn't this be too small to read text? Without messing around with scaling

    • +1

You could run a higher scaling to make things bigger. I think there are a few stops where it is 1:1.

    • +1

i find FHD suffice on 14" and below

    • then turn down the res if you dont like it, pretty easy setting

    • 150% scaling makes everything slightly larger than FHD with super sharp text.

Nice deal, but I don't need it now. I will wait until Black Friday and see what other new laptops are on offer by then. I will need a slim lightweight laptop for my son when he starts Highschool next year.

Decent deal if you are after thunderbolt and the warranty but this was a killer deal everyone would jump on if it came back

    • Still regret missing out on that one.

      • You can get the same model with 5800H around the same price from China as they are retail for 5199rmb.

        • How can we get it from China?

          • +1

@OzPeter: Purchase via Lenovo official store on taobao or jd, send it to a parcel forwarder to ship it to Australia.
I have done it several times for clothes and electronics, never had a laptop ship over though but I will when Legion 5 is restocked.

            • @moneytomyway: What payment system you have used and which parcel forwarder can you recommend?

              • -1

@OzPeter: Being a Chinese myself I just pay with my Chinese account but I think you can use your credit card to pay with alipay on Taobao.
I have used Taobao direct, superbuy and sugaroo, they all worked perfectly. Taobao directly would be the easiest but there's a chance of getting taxed as you don't get to declare how much your parcel is worth but you can easily declare your parcel worth $10/$20 with the other. I have shipped over 10kg and declared $20 without any issue, Aus custom is one of the easiest.

      • I recently got one on grays online through auction for around $800 lenovo official refurb. Also saw one on ebay brand new for around $1400. I haven't seen the s540 with the 4800u in stock to order on the lenovo site in a while. Yeh I think a lot of people are regretting missing that deal, if they want to buy a decently priced laptop that ticks all the boxes.

      • years ago kogan was selling macbooks for 700

    7i without an i7 chip… misleading

  • Is it touch screen?

  • How much with the Lenovo education discount? Anyone tried.

    • best deal is the normal store. Education, Business stores is more expensive

      • +2

This isn't necessarily true. Sometimes stock they're clearing will have massive discounts on the education store. For example, most of the old AMD stock on the education store is just ridcolously cheap.

    • $1291. What a bargain, $8 discount.

      • +2

Think of how many softserve cones you can get with that.

        • I miss the days of McDonald's 30c cones. A meal for $1 with 10c change.

There should be a 32GB RAM version

  • +1

There's no spare slots for more RAM?

    • The RAM is onboard (soldered) - whenever it's "LPDDR4" etc., it will be soldered. If it's DDR4 (soldered or not), then there's the possibility it's got a slot for expansion. You need all the RAM to be of the same type to for it to be compatible.

    • 99% of Ultrabooks don't have upgradable RAM

      • Dell vostro 5402 was upgradable

        • That's a 14" business laptop which is in a different category than 13.3" consumer ultrabooks.

Thanks TA, awesome price considering the chip shortage

  • +3

No really a yoga. Screen doesn't fold back, no touch, very misleading.

  • +2

Thanks TA. I was considering this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/615978 but bought this one due to warranty and Cashrewards.

  • Any news on thunderbolt for this which I should know of?

  • So is this 1298 minus the 13% Cashback (~1130 total?)
No touch. Sorry I failed the reading test

Is this the same one? $1274 and there is a latitude spesh from midnight for $50 off $150

So $1224 all said and done.
