LG 8.5kg Top Load Washing Machine $573 at Harvey Norman

140

First post in a long time, so stop what you are doing and pay attention. My stepdaughter needs a washing machine and I discovered this deal, which seems a good price even though the efficiency ratings are uninspiring. If you have a moment, please check the 6 brief reviews. Do they seem artificial to you too, or am I getting too cynical these days? I realise cynicism precludes perfection, though I attained excellence many years ago.

  • FYI, if you use cold water washes, the energy usage is approx 80kw and pretty much the same across all washing machines.

I have a Samsung and it's pretty similar to the LG. It's great.

Edit: 8.5kg is quite a lot for 1 person. 5.5kg should be more than enough.
    I have this, but in 7.5kg: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-kg-top-load-washing-m…

    • Most homes couldn't supply 80kW….power usage is measured in kWh (Kilowatt hours) ;)

  • She is like her mother (who almost exclusively cold washes) … if she sees something, it gets washed. This is the right size for her. But those reviews look bogus to me.

Uses twice as much water as my cheap 7.0kg front loader.

I notice they have ended the rebate for efficient washing machines … in NSW.

I got my first bill for water usage since 1989 yesterday. De body got a natural riddim, don't need washing. Actually, been on tank water since then, till now.

Does it cost extra to get this delivered to ur house? If it does, then this for $596 ends up cheaper (ie. if you need delivery & I assume delivery will cost more than $50):

appliancesonline does free delivery. They even remove the old washing machine for you.

Edit: Harvey Norman charges $49 to deliver to Sydney

I'd buy it from these guys for having better everyday pricing…and better still its not supporting soapbox Gerry!

      • I always try to buy from brick and mortar shop if the prices are almost similar. Just because it will help paying some store workers salary and help more for the economy. However if a similar online offer gives me a significant bargain I have to think about my self as well. :D
Online shops can easily beat prices of any other shop fronts due to low overheads. If they just match the price means they are too greedy. That's when you have to go somewhere else and help maintaining a shop front.

        • Meh when you look at it though from the point that Gerry wiped out all the little guys and then has been ripping us off for too long until low and behold the internet has empowered the consumer, I have no sympathy for him!

  • Thanks, totomvn. That looks like a good website. Bookmarked.

    • You're very welcome. I bought from appliances online many times. Reliable & always good service. Only issue is they only deliver during weekdays not weekend.

  • I bought this washing machine from Harvey Norman at Auburn $590 delivered.

    Doesn't sound too inspiring

Currently looking at front loaders for myself, the Samsung WF0754W7V looks to be the best cheaper one out there, 7.5KG for $643 inc delivery from theelectricdiscounter.com.au.

Alternatively the F&P Top loader WA70T60GW1 for $597 at Appliances Online has much better reviews.

  • This thing is a water hog, I wouldn't touch it. On top of that, Harvey Norman? ewww

  • We got the LG WT-800 a couple of years ago and it is just brilliant!

Best machine we have ever had and we have had a few over the years.
