  • You can always get 2 free listings per month when you port your listing from gumtree to eBay

    • +2

Yes but i dont why i always have problem with gumtree selling on ebay, it just doesnt work for me, have to always ask eBay to credit me fees manually.

Some ebay people make excuses such as that is a promo by gumtree, so i need to contact gumtree support not ebay.

Whatever the case this one is on your eBay account and hence will be open and work with everyone.

Also no hasel in manually crediting fees from them either since it clearly shows on the ebay selling account.

And even if you have 2 from gumtree getting an extra one doesnt hurt, just makes it easier to earn money by selling

      • Always works for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

        • How recently have you used it, stopped working for me the day managed payments started have to contact every time.

          • @Captain Hindsight: Last month. I still pay via PayPal (had AusPost fees)

    • +1

      more info please?

    • Not for much longer, the sale of gumtree will be finalised on June 1… end of the free gumtree transfers

  • Enjoy $0 Selling Fees on the first item you sell

    Sell where ?

  • Is this only for ebay.com.au site? I list my items on the US site. Will that promo always work there?

    • +2

I think eBay Australia only. eBay US has different promos

  • Invite only

  • I thought some categories are always free insertion…

besides, their fees and plus insertion fee are already taken quite a margin unless you open a store and pay for a fixed fee…

  • problem is , if you have other offers on the same time, ebays seems to apply your listing to the first offer activated (which sometimes not the best)

I keep getting emailed this offer and it says first item listed and sold via their phone app. However TOC do not state anything about the app. Just a heads up in case it doesn't work via the website.

    • T&c s also don't say anything about it being first sale

And after activating offer it only says

START SELLING FOR FREE ON EBAY (1 left)

    $0 insertion hey?
I’ve had quite a few of them in Pattaya

  • One item, FeeBay get stingier and stingier every time.

  • Just a warning for people that if you click on the link in this post it starts the promotion right away (so you have one month to sell after you click the link).

  • Make sure you take a screenshot when using eBay promos. Since last year their promos are prone to glitches to the point that they'll also disappear from your promo history altogether.

I think there are some major technical issues since eBay managed payments have come in. The promos have never applied properly since I signed up.

Also be prepared to waste hours chasing it up with next to useless eBay help chat. Most of them will end up making up some BS right at the very end after keeping you online for half an hour plus.

On top of that i suggest you talk to ebay support and ask them stuff like "hey can you please confirm if i have a eligible $0 free selling fees( no insertion fee, no final value fee)"
Once they confirm you can reference that chat as well as a proof that you had a promo and ebay should give it.

With mine its been weird, like i dont see the promo as USED in my selling/sold section in eBay, but on the other hand haven't even USED the 40 free insertion listings per month, so can't really say whats happening. But should be easy to get refunded the FVF if charged, since eBay support already confirmed by looking into my account.

When I was using PayPal promos worked fine but once I switched over to eBay managed payments none have worked.

Up until recently I have managed to get the FVFs refunded manually via eBay help chat but since last week or so they have refused to do that claiming that the "system" should automatically refund within 15 days after sale which I'm pretty sure is all BS.

But yeah definitely take screenshots of everything eBay help is full of reps just making stuff up on the go even when it comes to terms and conditions.

It's kinda same with me but mainly the gumtree free listings don't work for me with ebay managed payments, worked fine with paypal but ebay managed payments doesn't work.
Although with paypal always had to pay the 2.6% selling fee of Total transaction always

          • @USER DC: Yeah sounds like you're in a similar situation. For me it's eBay promos along those lines of 5 $1 fee listings or 2 free listings to finish and list draft listings or list one free via app etc. They send them out every now and again. None of them have registered properly.

I guess I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to find out if the "system" refunds the FVFs automatically. I highly doubt it.

        • +1

same and if I didn't check my payment then id never have known.

        • +1

I can also confirm that eBay support has told me the same thing about the 15 day wait for the 'automatic' refund after my sale from a Gumtree originated listing which did not work. Apparently it is done in batches.

I also just sold an item on eBay using the eBay offer ($0 Insertion and Final Value Fees) and it still charged me all the fees so there is an issue with it. They must just charge by default and then credit your account afterwards.

Only time will tell. I will be looking forward to hearing that someone has successfully been credited the fees back under this new payment system.

    • +1

I'm in the same situation, but my rep told me it can take up to 25 days lol..

Let's hope it gets sorted for us!

  • Well 15 days has passed and I still dont have the credit. 3rd time now on chat to chase the credits. eBay are a joke.

    • Yes but this time it's way easier. Because the promotion shows on YOUR EBAY ACCOUNT.

SO you just tell to chat, that Promotion didn't apply. and they will credit the Final value Fees.

So you know it that easy.

It took me like 3 mins to have mine credited (JUST BECAUSE PROMOTION WAS SHOWING DIRECTLY in my EBAY ACCOUNT)

  • Has anyone made and progress with getting their FVF back for a Gumtree transfer? I've waited 20 days now and I have talked with an eBay rep 6 times. Case has apparently been escalated and still no response after 4 business days. I did follow up again yesterday and said they sent a message to the specialised team. They keep promising but still nothing.
    Really disappointing….

    • Yep nothing here and its been 3 weeks. I actually gave the rep 1 star on the feedback form which triggered a call from eBay Australia to find out what happen with my interaction. I also told the lady from Sydney on the phone and she said she would chase it up. 2 days later and still nothing…..

    • Same. Just used a $1 FVF promo, full fees were charged just now and still waiting on my April 5th Gumtree fees.

    • Still waiting too, I was a fan of the new change for fee free selling, I was wrong, eBay can eat a bag of d1cks

  • Finally got my credit back after giving the Rep 1 star on my feedback email. I got a call from ebay AU and let them know why. After a week I finally got my FVF back.

  • Got my FVF promo deal credited, GT case escalated and will be assessed within 7 days.
