45% off Samsung Soundbar Redemption (e.g. Q950T 200,770 Points, Was 365,040) @ Qantas Rewards Store

130

Noticed the Qantas Rewards store currently has a 45% off points redemptions sale on Samsung Soundbars.
Example: the flagship Q950T model has been reduced from 365,040 PTS to 200,770 PTS.

Note: these reductions don't seem to stack with the current 20% Easter Sale offer.

Thought it may be of interest to someone.

  • 10% club bonus stacks

  • Still only comes down to 1005$ worth of points. I bought mine for 950 in the eBay sale recently

    • What's the best way to value QFF points? Is it the equivalent value in gift cards?

      • Well, assuming we will one day see normality again… an around the world economy ticket is 130k points, and around the world business is now 320k… Or you could have a soundbar!

I'm fairness there are taxes to be paid on those redemption fares (which flight hacks is good at forgetting to include).

        • How much would the tax (average)?

          .

          • @w1nthrophy: Just booked one for approx $500 tax.

            • @shankur: Geez that’s low taxes. How’d you managed that?

              • @nightelves: Yep. It varies. That's to patagonia, barca, Oman and back to melb via Perth.

I've paid that much in tax for a London to Delhi flight, nearly that much for a domestic flight to Norfolk Island.

                Varies wildly.

          • @w1nthrophy: Tax varies a lot. They range from $6 for domestic US flights on American Airlines. To over $500 for Qantas flights to Europe. Usually any Qantas flight will have a higher tax than other airlines. To maximise my Qantas points value I usually avoid high tax redemption flights.

      • The best use is always to book tickets with it. Especially the value deal ones. But if youre spending on Qantas store rough value is 0.005 dollars per cent. Based on gift card value

    • Is it good? Regrets?

  • I'm in the market for a soundbar, and have lots of qff points. Also suspect I'm going nowhere soon to use them.

Any ozbargainers able to up sell anything here?

  • uber poor use of points.

    • I know people say this, but I think it’s a flawed way of looking at it.
Without doubt upgrades and classic rewards / rtw are the best value for money. But you can’t really use those at the moment, so the opportunity cost isn’t real. And no one really knows when you will be able to book again with confidence.
So ignore a hypothetical opportunity cost.
Instead look at the cost to acquire the points.
100k points costs about $250-ish to earn through sign on bonuses and funnelling existing spending.
So this sound bar as example is about two cars sign ups and $500 in card fees (if you don’t get any value from the other card benefits). Seems like it’s 50% cheaper than eBay.
I’ve got more points than I need and no where I can fly. I don’t need a sound bar, but I don’t think it’s a bad way for people to spend points at the moment.

    • when did Uber become poor? they're swimming in investors money

  • Interestingly they value redemption of points in this instance around 0.85c pp
Yet charge 2.5c pp to "top up"

  • The 450 is available at Harvey Norman for under $200 at the moment.

    • Yep they are clearing 2020 stock

    • Is that any good.

  • OP please include the delivery charge of $45 or 6750 points.
I don't see any options to dodge the charge, therefore you must redeem 207,520 points.
